Saturday 27th July – Summer Flowers in Water Colours

Join this guided art painting workshop where you will learn step by step how to create a masterpiece of summer flowers using the wonderful inspiration of flora and fauna from The Dutch Marketplace, Great North Road, Hatfield, AL9 6ND. You will use techniques such as salt, wet on wet and masking fluid, flowers will be revealed in all their glory. All watercolour paints and paper are supplied by the tutor. Macrame is the technique of using different knots to craft an item. It does not require any special tools or equipment and is an accessible and relaxing route into making your own crafts. Saturday 10th August – Introduction to Map and Compass Reading

This one day introduction to map and compass is a practical hands-on day, showing you the skills to plan your own routes safely, be they local countryside trails or in the hills and mountains. This course is aimed at people with no navigation experience, or those looking to refresh their skills learnt a while ago but who want to get back outdoors. Equally, this course would appeal to those want to get into the countryside without relying on others, guidebooks or using easy well-defined routes. Friday 30th August – Revision Strategies and Exam Techniques

This online course is designed to support students studying for levels 1 and 2 functional skills maths. It will help them to approach revision for their maths test in an organised and effective way. Mondays, starting 9th September – Explore Your Sewing Machine

This online course will take you from the very basics, such as setting up your sewing machine and discovering what the ‘knobs’ do. You will also practice your skills by sewing four basic projects including bunting and a draw string bag. This course is aimed at people who have little or no knowledge of how to use their sewing machine and how to sew using a machine. Coming up with a business idea and starting a business can seem overwhelming and complicated. There are so many things you must consider. One of the most important elements is how to fund your business in the first place. This short online course should give you some idea of where to start. During this five-week online course you will be breathing new life into your old clothes/bedding by turning them into fabric flowers that can be framed, made into brooches, or even attached to hair bands. Mondays, starting 16th September – Transforming Family Life with Empathy

This online three week course starts Monday 16th September, this online course takes place on zoom in small therapeutic groups of up to 12 parents of children aged 4-10 years old living in Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire. Interactive groups with discussions and experiential exercises. Cameras must be on during the whole session. There will be short daily homework tasks each week to complete with feedback required. Tuesday 17th September – Helping Your Child with Phonics

This taster online course is designed to give you an overview of what ‘phonics’ is and how phonics is taught in school from age 3-7 yrs old. You will learn about Phonics terms such as ‘digraph’ and ‘segmenting’ and how to say the sounds. You will be given ideas and resources that will help develop their child’s reading and writing skills. Improve your own levels of confidence by exploring where confidence comes from and by identifying the behaviour and characteristics of confident people. You will identify methods and strategies for increasing your confidence levels such as the use of positive thinking and self-affirmations.
