Wednesday 18th February – Family Fun

Welwyn Hatfield Family Centre Service  run ‘Family Fun’ events across Hertfordshire, where they welcome little ones 0-5 years, and their siblings up to 8 years, to come along and take part in fun activities. It is a great way to meet other local parents and carers, take part in activities and also somewhere to visit that does not break the bank. They only charge £2.50 for the whole family. Wednesday 18th February – Stay and Play

A fun session with various activities and resources for children. There’s a special area for babies with family support staff available to help, plus the chance to socialise with other parents and carers. Siblings Welcome. Chargeable drop in, £2.50 per family. Wednesday 18th February – Children’s Party

A fantastic Farm Yard party. Expect music, dancing, games, challenges, and comical interactive story time, with some special toy guests joining the fun. This is an outdoor event and will be covered; please dress appropriately for the weather. No food is permitted in the Farm Yard. After the event, why not visit the Courtyard for freshly handmade pizza, or book a table at the Granary for a sit-down meal. Wednesday 18th February from 11am – 12 noon. Wednesday 18th February – Crafty Kids Party

Get ready to unleash your inner artist at this Crafty Kids Party. Wednesday 18th February from 12 noon – 3pm, for an afternoon packed with so many fun activities. This event is free entry but please make sure you book at The Red Lion, Great North Road, Hatfield, AL9 5EU.

Wednesday 18th February – Cartoon Circus Live

All the fun of the circus comes to Campus West, The Campus, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6BX, on Wednesday 18th February at 1.30pm and 3.30pm, when the laughter-packed stage show Cartoon Circus Live combines the comedy of pantomime with the thrill of the circus. The one hour half term holiday family show features some of Britain’s funniest clowns, traditional slapstick comedy, illusions, the amazing girl in the spinning bottle, magic, a huge giant dancing bear, cartoon characters, an acrobatic human slinky, puppets, prizes and surprises. Thursday 19th February – Chatty Cafe

The ‘Chatter and Natter table’ is a wonderful way of encouraging people of all ages to talk to others. Do come along and sit for a chat. Thursdays from 11am – 1pm, at Roe Hill Hall Community Hub, Briars Lane, Hatfield, AL10 8EY


Thursday 19th February – Kids Mother’s Day Creation Workshop

Bring your children along to a fun and creative Mother’s Day Creation Workshop, hosted by Manic Ceramics Hertford. During this hands-on session, children will paint a ceramic mug and matching coaster using specialist glazes. Be guided step-by-step by an experienced instructor from Manic Ceramics Hertford. Enjoy a relaxed, creative environment while making a special Mother’s Day gift. All pieces will be professionally fired at the Manic Ceramics studio and then returned to Tewinbury for parents to collect a few days later. Friday 20th February – Baby Rhyme Time

These fun, half hour sessions of songs and rhymes are perfect for helping your child to learn language skills and are a great opportunity for you to meet other families too. Fridays from 10.30am – 11am. At Hatfield Library, White Lion Square, Hatfield, AL10 0LD.


Friday 20th February – Quiz Night

An evening of fun, friendly competition and fantastic food at this Charity Quiz Night. Gather your team and put your knowledge to the test while supporting a great cause. Licensed Bar and Raffle on the night. Tickets are £18.95 per person

Saturday 21st February – Stanborough Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog or run. The event takes place at Stanborough Park, Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6DF. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at Splashlands Café. Saturdays from 9am. For further information click here


Saturday 21st February – Food and Craft Market

Local and national traders selling a wide range of produce, gifts, crafts and much more. Hot and cold food stalls from your favourite regular traders as well as guest food stalls. Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Every first and third Saturday of the month. At Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.


Saturday 21st February – IT Champions

IT Champions offer one-to-one support, problem-solving, and online safety advice for users of the library computers and WiFi. Every Saturday from 10am – 12 noon, at Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6AJ.

These interactive story sessions are perfect for pre-school children to enjoy with their parent/carer. Join in with a mix of picture book stories and rhymes. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Saturdays from 3.30pm – 4pm.


Sunday 22nd February – Junior Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors 4-14 year olds. The event takes place at Birchwood Leisure Centre, Longmead, Birchwood, Hatfield, AL10 0AN. Every Sunday from 9am, every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at the leisure centre café. For further information click here

Monday 23rd February – Craftea Morning

Join this craft group every Monday morning from 10am – 12 noon, a chance to meet other crafters and chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome, just bring along your current craft project and join in. This is a great informal group where you can relax, enjoy good conversation and pick up a few hints and tips. These Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Chat and Play sessions are a great opportunity to come and meet other families going through a similar journey, in a relaxed environment. Their SEND Champions are on hand to talk to you about the services we offer, signpost to different organisations or to simply act as a listening ear. All are welcome whether your child is diagnosed or you are concerned about a possible need. Tuesday 24th February – Brush Party

Saturday 28th February – Music Society Quiz Night

Welwyn Garden City Society’s annual quiz night, fundraising for their Orchestra and Chorus, with some serious but fun brain-testing. All are welcome and no need to be a member, with prizes for winning teams. Come either as a team of eight, or as individuals, and join in with others to form teams on the night. Friday 20th March – Cyber crime and Fraud Awareness

This free drop-in event features talks from Hertfordshire Police, Hertfordshire County Council Trading Standards and Beacon Victim Care, as well as opportunities to ask questions of cyber and fraud crime prevention experts. Get advice on keeping your devices and accounts safe through passwords and 2-step verification, get better at spotting phishing and social engineering, keep up to date with the latest online, phone, email and text scams, and more. Sunday 22nd March – Dogs and Daffs

A day of fun with your four-legged friends. Take a stroll through the grounds of Hatfield Park before entering this ever-popular fun dog show. Wednesday 25th March – River Lea Catchment Conference

This event is for everyone with an interest in the chalk rivers of Hertfordshire and Middlesex. They have an exciting group of speakers covering an interesting mix of topics including; Nature of the Easneye estate, an Eels project in the Thames catchment, chalk streams from a national perspective and a a reflection on the last year and future projects in the Lea Catchment. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions of the keynote speakers, as well as network with other people involved in catchment management. Wednesday 25th March from 6pm – 9.30pm. Tuesday 28th April – Quiz Night

Old school pen and paper quiz. Come down and join in with the best host around. Prizes and lots of fun to be had. Tuesday 28th April from 7pm, at The Grove, Hall Grove, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4PH.


Thursday 7th May – Tottenham Legends

Come and join Tottenham Legends: Ledley King and Ossie Ardiles along with host Graham Roberts to hear first hand accounts from your favourite players and gain unique perspective on sport and all things spurs, with over 700 appearances between all 3 players for the club, this is a night for any Spurs fan. The Lads will also discuss their careers, games, dressing room/training ground stories, managers, fall outs and everything you wanted to know about playing for a successful football club.

There will be a chance to pose questions to the stars during the evening. A limited number of VIP tickets are available, affording the opportunity for a meet and greet with the legendary players and a photograph opportunity before the show. Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May – World Food Festival 

A mouth-watering weekend of global flavours, live entertainment, and family fun at the World Food Festival. Get ready to feast on incredible street food from some of the UK’s top traders, from sizzling Asian stir-fries to gourmet burgers, Caribbean spice to Mediterranean delights, sweet treats and more. Enjoy performances from fantastic local musicians, dancers and community acts bringing the party atmosphere all weekend long. Friday 19th – Sunday 21st June – WGC Swing Festival

The  WGC Swing Festival, is a two day and three evening event filled with live music, dance classes and social dancing/concerts all weekend. Saturday 8th August – Dinomania

Step back in time and experience a dino-sized day out packed with pre-historic dinosaur shows, roaming dinosaurs you can meet up close, interactive and educational museums, and hands-on fun for curious explorers of all ages. Funded by the businesses of Welwyn Garden City town centre and organised by the WGC BID team. Saturday 8th August from 10am, at Welwyn Garden City town centre.


Saturday 12th September – Firework Champions

Get ready for an incredible night of colour, music, and sky-filling pyrotechnics as Firework Champions returns to the historic Hatfield Park, Hatfield AL9 5HX. With its grand parkland setting and centuries of heritage, Hatfield provides a stunning backdrop for one of the UK’s most exciting firework competition events. Three of the UK’s leading professional firework companies will each deliver a 10-minute fully choreographed display synced perfectly to music. After all three teams have shown what they can do, the night concludes with a huge, dazzling finale display that lights up the whole park. After the final competitor has performed, you will vote for your favourite display by text, helping to crown the next Firework Champion at Hatfield Park. To book click here


Saturday 10th October -Vegan Market

The Welwyn Garden City event takes over Stonehills Square, right in the centre of the town (between John Lewis and the Howard Centre), on Saturday 10th October from 10.30am – 4pm. The event brings together an incredible selection of vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, ethical jewellers, local artists, environmental charities and more.
