Wednesday 3rd June – Knit and Natter

Thursday 4th June – Chatty Cafe

Friday 5th June – Jazz at The Barn: Mark Herdman Trio
The Mark Herdman Trio deliver hard swinging original music as well as new takes on old standards. Having been long time friends since meeting at Middlesex University, the trio honed their craft making music with one and other. In 2021 the band released their debut album ‘Hold My Beer’ featuring compositions by band leader Mark Herdman as well as contributions from rising star Tom Remon. Saturday 6th June – Stanborough Parkrun
A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog or run. The event takes place at Stanborough Park, Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6DF. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at Splashlands Café. Saturdays from 9am. For further information click here

Saturday 6th June – Food and Craft Market
Local and national traders selling a wide range of produce, gifts, crafts and much more. Hot and cold food stalls from your favourite regular traders as well as guest food stalls. Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Every first and third Saturday of the month. At Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.

Saturday 6th June – Circus Fun
A fun, hands-on session where you can try juggling, plate-spinning and other classic circus skills. Saturday 6th June from 10am – 3pm, at Market Place, Hatfield.

Sunday 7th June – Junior Parkrun
A free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors 4-14 year olds. The event takes place at Birchwood Leisure Centre, Longmead, Birchwood, Hatfield, AL10 0AN. Every Sunday from 9am, every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at the leisure centre café. For further information click here

Welwyn Garden City car boot sale every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday until the last Sunday in October. At Stanborough Fields (formerly Birchwood sale) on A6129, road between Birchwood and Stanborough, nearest post code, AL8 6DF then follow the signs. Until last Sunday in October.

Monday 8th June – Tool Marking

Monday 8th June – Craftea Morning
Join this craft group every Monday morning from 10am – 12 noon, a chance to meet other crafters and chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome, just bring along your current craft project and join in. This is a great informal group where you can relax, enjoy good conversation and pick up a few hints and tips. Wednesday 10th June – Tee Talk
Enjoy golf, footgolf, a BBQ and live DJ in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Whether you come on your own or with friends, it is a great opportunity to meet others, have fun and find out about local mental health support. Saturday 13th June – Family Fun
A day of live music, free children’s activities, craft workshops, and food trucks, set around the new community green space and play area. The WGC Swing Festival, is a two day and three evening event filled with live music, dance classes and social dancing/concerts all weekend. Hatfield Town Council is hosting another fun-filled Community Day in White Lion Square on Saturday 20th June from 11am – 4pm. Filled with music, crafts, dancing, performances, children’s activities and more, they will once again be showcasing an array of talent, local services and good causes.

Thursday 25th June – Opening Opportunities Job Fair
A free event aimed at supporting local residents into employment, training, and career development. The event is being delivered by Mental Health Matters, a charity providing employment support, and will bring together a range of employers, recruitment agencies, and training providers to engage directly with job seekers in the community. The event will also include free CV support and employability guidance to help attendees make the most of the opportunities available. Thursday 25th June from 10am – 2pm, at The Howard Centre (Central Atrium), Welwyn Garden City.

Saturday 27th June – Craft Market
Monthly market bringing together a whole variety of local vendors selling items including personalised gifts, jewellery, male grooming care, doggy accessories, pocket money items for children, plus delicious, sweet treats and much more. At The Galleria, Comet Way, Hatfield, AL10 0XR. The market will be located in the main atrium of the mall. Last Saturday of the month from 10am – 4pm.

Saturday 27th June – Indoor Makers and Curators Market
If you love unique, high quality, beautifully made crafts, homewares, baked goods, jewellery, art and loads more then this is for you. The market is spread out over both the upper and lower malls of The Howard Centre, Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6HA. Fourth Saturday every month from 10am – 4pm.

Saturday 4th July – Attifest
Join Attimore Hall, Ridgeway, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 2AD, with live music including Take Two, ABBA tribute, and Amy Winehouse tribute, plus so much more, all in aid of Dipps – Defibrillators in Public Place. Saturday 4th July from 2pm – 10pm.

Saturday 11th July – Summer Fete
Enjoy a fun-filled community event with bouncy castles, games, performances, raffles, tombola’s, delicious food, refreshing drinks, sweet treats, local business stalls, handmade gifts, and much more. Bring your picnic blanket, relax on the grass, and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and community spirit with family and friends. Their raffles and tombola’s will feature amazing prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters. All proceeds from the fete go directly towards supporting Countess Anne School through FOCAS and helping fund activities, resources, and experiences for the children. Saturday 8th August – Dinomania
Step back in time and experience a dino-sized day out packed with pre-historic dinosaur shows, roaming dinosaurs you can meet up close, interactive and educational museums, and hands-on fun for curious explorers of all ages. Funded by the businesses of Welwyn Garden City town centre and organised by the WGC BID team. Saturday 8th August from 10am, at Welwyn Garden City town centre.

Saturday 12th September – Firework Champions
Get ready for an incredible night of colour, music, and sky-filling pyrotechnics as Firework Champions returns to the historic Hatfield Park, Hatfield AL9 5HX. With its grand parkland setting and centuries of heritage, Hatfield provides a stunning backdrop for one of the UK’s most exciting firework competition events. Three of the UK’s leading professional firework companies will each deliver a 10-minute fully choreographed display synced perfectly to music. After all three teams have shown what they can do, the night concludes with a huge, dazzling finale display that lights up the whole park. After the final competitor has performed, you will vote for your favourite display by text, helping to crown the next Firework Champion at Hatfield Park. To book click here

The Welwyn Garden City event takes over Stonehills Square, right in the centre of the town (between John Lewis and the Howard Centre), on Saturday 10th October from 10.30am – 4pm. The event brings together an incredible selection of vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, ethical jewellers, local artists, environmental charities and more.
