Thursday 19th September – Baby Rhyme Time
Fun, half hour sessions of songs and rhymes are perfect for helping your child to learn language skills and are a great opportunity for you to meet other families too. Baby Rhyme Time is free though donations are welcomed. No booking required. Every Thursday from 10.30am – 11am and 2.30pm – 3pm. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West AL8 6AJ.
Friday 20th September – Melody Monkeys
Fun weekly drop in sessions at Hyde Cricket club Beehive Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4BP, with lots of music, singing, movement, parachute activities, bubbles, instrument play, action songs, puppets, dancing, stories, lights and more. These are mixed age sessions for 0-5s, although it is recommend that babies are sitting up before attending (smaller babies welcome free with older siblings). If you sign up for the term, the fee is reduced.
Each week will be a different theme so learning covers a huge range of areas, such as Seasons, Jungle, Jobs, Farm, Pets, Transport, Food and Under the Sea to name just a few. Sessions promote early years learning, with activities that involve creating sounds, using rhythmic movement, counting skills and exploring rhythms to name just a few. They also help children to develop core areas such as improving their listening skills and ability to follow instructions, whilst building confidence and developing healthy peer interactions. Fridays from 9.45am – 10.30am until 20th December.
Friday 20th September – Strength and Balance
Take your first steps to better health, designed for individuals wanting to improve their strength and balance while learning new exercises to maintain independence. Free and suitable for those who have not exercised before or are experiencing a decline in their physical ability. Exercise at your own pace in a positive environment and meet others in your community who are at a similar ability level. At Methodist Church 149 Ludwick Way, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3PN, Fridays from 10am – 11am until 19th December.
Saturday 21st September – Food and Craft Market
Local and national traders selling a wide range of produce, gifts, crafts and much more. Hot and cold food stalls from your favourite regular traders as well as guest food stalls. Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Every first and third Saturday of the month. At Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.
Saturday 21st September – ParkPlay
ParkPlay is a two-hour long play session of fun and games for everyone every Saturday morning from 10am. At King George V Playing Fields, Beehive Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4BP. Activities are relaxed enough to attract the shy and less confident, but structured enough to reassure.
Saturday 21st September – Lego Club
Come along for fun challenges that build problem solving skills and creative thinking. Suitable for children ages 5-12. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West AL8 6AJ. Every other Saturday from 11am – 12 noon. Next is 12th October. Until 28th December.
Sunday 22nd September – Car Boot Sale
Every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from first Sunday in April until last Sunday in October. At Stanborough Fields, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, AL8 7TB. No booking just turn up and pay on the day. Early buyers: Adults £3 at 10am. £2 at 10.30. £1 at 11.30am.
Monday 23rd September – Craftea Morning
Join this craft group every Monday morning from 10am – 12 noon, a chance to meet other crafters and chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome, just bring along your current craft project and join in. This is a great informal group where you can relax, enjoy good conversation and pick up a few hints and tips. Monday 23rd September – Storytime
Join Welwyn Garden City Library, Campus West AL8 6AJ, for Storytime, every Monday from 2.15pm – 2.45pm, in the children’s area of the Library. They will share a selection of books and rhymes at each session. Perfect for under 5’s, no booking needed. These are free session but donations are welcome.
Monday 23rd September – Moon Waves
Come and have a go and amaze yourself with what you can do. Experience how it feels to dab different coloured paint onto a canvas, create your own picture, and feel good about it. Using acrylic paint, step by step you will learn simple painting techniques to create this style of painting. No experience is necessary. Their highly experienced art tutors will guide you through the process of painting your picture, step by step, so that you can relax and just enjoy the experience. Wednesday 25th September – Club Meet
The De Havilland Model Railway Society meets Wednesday evenings at Ludwick Way Methodist Church, Ludwick Way, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3PN. Anyone interested in model railways, or just modelling is welcome to visit and bring some stock to run on their large scenic Havil Junction layout. Wednesdays until at least the end of the year.
Saturday 28th September – The Pigeon and the Peacock: Introduction to Musical Therapy
This fun, interactive, music therapy workshop will be led by professional music therapist, Rich Muscat, and explore themes raised in the play The Pigeon and The Peacock. This workshop will be inclusive to children from all musical backgrounds, using accessible percussion. Suitable for all children aged 7 to 9 years. Wednesday 16th October – Bee Awareness Evening
Discovering a world of bees and beekeeping. An evening with local beekeepers talking about bees in general and more specifically about honey bees. The evening covers, the UK’s bees wasps and hornets, the life of a honeybee, what beekeepers do, how honey is made and how to help bees and pollinators in general. A specialised market in Hertfordshire bringing you over 50 unusual and fantastical traders over two days. Discover peculiar collections of art, home decor, jewellery and so much more. The Halloween bumper edition is two full days of the Peculiar Market with different traders on each day, there will be plenty of new things to browse and explore on both days. Saturday 26th October – Vegan Market
The Welwyn Garden City Vegan Market is back and taking over Stonehills Square on Saturday 26th October from 10.30am – 4pm. As usual, the event will bring together an incredible selection of vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, craft brewers, ethical jewellers, local artists, environmental charities, plus loads more.
Sunday 17th November – TrackPlay
A fun and entertaining time for kids who love trains. With over 500 feet of Track and over 100 Thomas and his friends trains to choose from. Kids will be raving about the experience for a long time . Book a time slot to suit and then on the day sit back and enjoy a hot drink whilst the kids all have fun with trains. Sunday 17th November at various times. A specialised market bringing you over 20 unusual and fantastical traders. Discover peculiar collections of art, home decor, jewellery and so much more. They have a welcoming atmosphere as well as an inclusive and accessible venue. There will be food vendors on hand to provide refreshments if you want to pull up a chair and have a break.
