Sunday 28th July – Car Boot Sale

Every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from first Sunday in April until last Sunday in October. At Stanborough Fields, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, AL8 7TB. No booking just turn up and pay on the day. Early buyers: Adults £3 at 10am. £2 at 10.30. £1 at 11.30am.


Monday 29th July – Craftea Morning

Join this craft group every Monday morning from 10am – 12 noon, a chance to meet other crafters and chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome, just bring along your current craft project and join in. This is a great informal group where you can relax, enjoy good conversation and pick up a few hints and tips. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West, AL8 6AJ.


Monday 29th July – Baby Rhyme Time

These fun, half hour sessions of songs and rhymes are perfect for helping your child to learn language skills and are an opportunity for you to meet other families too. Every Monday from 10.30am – 11am. At Woodhall Library (Welwyn Garden City), Cole Green Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3JA.


Monday 29th July – Storytime

Join Welwyn Garden City Library, Campus West AL8 6AJ, for Storytime, every Monday from 2.15pm – 2.45pm, in the children’s area of the Library. They will share a selection of books and rhymes at each session. Perfect for under 5’s, no booking needed. These are free session but donations are welcome.


Monday 29th July – Friday 2nd August – Summer Camp

Wednesday 31st July – Club Meet

The De Havilland Model Railway Society meets Wednesday evenings at Ludwick Way Methodist Church, Ludwick Way, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3PN. Anyone interested in model railways, or just modelling is welcome to visit and bring some stock to run on their large scenic Havil Junction layout. Wednesdays until at least the end of the year.


Wednesday 31st July – Junk Modelling

Join Welwyn Garden City Central library on Wednesday 31st July from 2pm – 3.30pm for a new junk modelling event. Come have fun building your own robot or whatever creation you fancy out of rubbish. Open to children ages 5-8 years old. Entry is free but a suggested £1 donation per child is welcome. This is a walk-in event, no advanced booking required. However, spaces are limited to 12 children plus accompanying adults.

Friday 2nd August – Strength and Balance

Take your first steps to better health, designed for individuals wanting to improve their strength and balance while learning new exercises to maintain independence. Free and suitable for those who have not exercised before or are experiencing a decline in their physical ability. Exercise at your own pace in a positive environment and meet others in your community who are at a similar ability level. At Methodist Church 149 Ludwick Way, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3PN, Fridays from 10am – 11am until 19th December.


Saturday 3rd August – Food and Craft Market

Local and national traders selling a wide range of produce, gifts, crafts and much more. Hot and cold food stalls from your favourite regular traders as well as guest food stalls. Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Every first and third Saturday of the month. At Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.


Saturday 3rd August – Volunteer Information Service

Come along and find out more about Isabel Hospice and the opportunities available. on Saturday 3rd August from 11am – 1pm at the Living Well Community Hub, Hall Grove, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4PH. It is a great way to learn more about Isabel Hospice. You will meet the various teams who deliver the services they provide, and those who enable this to be done. They can also match your skills and experience with the opportunities available. There is free parking onsite and refreshments will be available. Saturday 3rd August – Reading Friends

Tuesday 6th August – Who Wants To Be an Olympian?

Qualify, win team medals and be in your very own Olympic ceremony with Pākiki Theatre’s ‘Who Wants To Be An Olympian?’, the show that celebrates Olympics and Paralympics past, present and future. Ideal for ages 6-12 and their families. Wednesday 14th August – Creative coding with Artie3000 and Ozobots

Creative coding with Artie3000 and Ozobots at this CreatorSpace out the Box event. Wednesday 14th August and Wednesday 28th August. Please be aware this event will be the same on both dates, only book to attend one. Friday 30th August – Art Journaling Workshop

Art journaling workshop with professional artist Hazel Russell is taking place on Friday 30th August from 11am – 1pm, at Welwyn Garden City Library. Tickets are free, so if you are aged between 14 – 24 and are in the area then come along and create your own art journal. A mashup of art and writing, using paints, pens, bullet lists, quotes, lyrics, lettering, graffiti, stencils, stamps, collage, mindful drawing and more! Book your place here and get creative.

A specialised market bringing you over 20 unusual and fantastical traders. Discover peculiar collections of art, home decor, jewellery and so much more. They have a welcoming atmosphere as well as an inclusive and accessible venue. There will be food vendors on hand to provide refreshments if you want to pull up a chair and have a break. At Woodhall Community Centre, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3XD. Sunday 1st September from 11.30am – 4pm.


Friday 6th September – Melody Monkeys

Fun weekly drop in sessions at Hyde Cricket club Beehive Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4BP, with lots of music, singing, movement, parachute activities, bubbles, instrument play, action songs, puppets, dancing, stories, lights and more. These are mixed age sessions for 0-5s, although it is recommend that babies are sitting up before attending (smaller babies welcome free with older siblings). If you sign up for the term, the fee is reduced.

Each week will be a different theme so learning covers a huge range of areas, such as Seasons, Jungle, Jobs, Farm, Pets, Transport, Food and Under the Sea to name just a few. Sessions promote early years learning, with activities that involve creating sounds, using rhythmic movement, counting skills and exploring rhythms to name just a few. They also help children to develop core areas such as improving their listening skills and ability to follow instructions, whilst building confidence and developing healthy peer interactions. Fridays from 9.45am – 10.30am until 20th December.
