Tuesday 12th May – Lego Club

Come along for fun challenges that build problem solving skills, spatial awareness, and creative thinking. Suitable for children aged 5-11 years old. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Tuesday 12th May – Quiz Night

Wednesday 13th May – Knit and Natter

Thursday 14th May – Street Food Heroes

An unforgettable evening of next-level street food, great vibes, and good times as Street Food Heroes rolls into town at Stonehills Square, Welwyn Garden City. Mouth-watering street food from top traders, flavours from around the world, laid-back vibes and buzzing atmosphere. Perfect for families, friends and food lovers. Thursday 14th May from 4pm – 9pm.


Saturday 16th May – Stanborough Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog or run. The event takes place at Stanborough Park, Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6DF. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at Splashlands Café. Saturdays from 9am. For further information click here


Saturday 16th May – Food and Craft Market

Local and national traders selling a wide range of produce, gifts, crafts and much more. Hot and cold food stalls from your favourite regular traders as well as guest food stalls. Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Every first and third Saturday of the month. At Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.


Saturday 16th May – North Mymms Book Swap

Come along and swap a book or a puzzle. Delicious home made cake and tea/coffee available to purchase. At North Mymms Memorial Hall, Station Road, Welham Green, Hatfield, AL9 7PG. Saturday from 10am – 12 noon.


Sunday 17th May – Junior Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors 4-14 year olds. The event takes place at Birchwood Leisure Centre, Longmead, Birchwood, Hatfield, AL10 0AN. Every Sunday from 9am, every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at the leisure centre café. For further information click here


Sunday 17th May – Beehive Junior Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors 4-14 year olds. Held every Sunday from 9am, at King George V Playing Fields, Beehive Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4BP. For further information click here


Sunday 17th May – Car Boot Sale

Welwyn Garden City car boot sale every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday until the last Sunday in October. At Stanborough Fields (formerly Birchwood sale) on A6129, road between Birchwood and Stanborough, nearest post code, AL8 6DF then follow the signs. Until last Sunday in October.


Monday 18th May – Craftea Morning

Join this craft group every Monday morning from 10am – 12 noon, a chance to meet other crafters and chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome, just bring along your current craft project and join in. This is a great informal group where you can relax, enjoy good conversation and pick up a few hints and tips. Monday 18th May – Quiz Night

Quiz night at The Doctors Tonic, Church Road, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6PS. Every Monday from 8pm until at least end of June.


Tuesday 19th May – Memory Walk

Join Hatfield Library, White Lion Square, Hatfield, AL10 0LD, for a Memory Walk on Tuesday 19th May, to mark Dementia Action Week. They will be walking in two groups of ten, departing at 10.30am and 11.15am to The Bunker Museum for a short visit, followed by a return to the library for lunch. Spaces are free but limited due to the museum’s capacity. Also please note there is no step-free access at the museum. You can reserve a space at the library.


Saturday 23rd May – Indoor Makers and Curators Market

If you love unique, high quality, beautifully made crafts, homewares, baked goods, jewellery, art and loads more then this is for you. The market is spread out over both the upper and lower malls of The Howard Centre, Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6HA. Fourth Saturday every month from 10am – 4pm.


Tuesday 26th May – Build a Junk Model Town

Another fun family learning event for Explore Your Archive Month. Join Hatfield Library, White Lion Square, Hatfield, AL10 0LD, on Tuesday 26th May from 2pm – 4pm, to build a junk model town out of recycled packaging. They will provide the junk, they just need your creativity. Tickets are £4.40 per child and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Book at the library.

Thursday 28th May – Guided Walk: Dark Waters

A guided evening walk along the River Lea to discover the nocturnal wildlife that emerges at dusk around one of the rare chalk rivers. Using bat detectors and infrared binoculars to gain a unique insight into the hidden world of nocturnal species. Together, you will listen for echolocation calls, learn how to identify different bat species, and observe the park as it transitions from day to night. Suitable for families with children aged 7+. Friday 29th – Sunday 31st May – Foodies Festival

The star-studded touring food and music festival, announces a huge line-up of TV celebrity chefs and chart-topping music stars, including Scouting For Girls, Boyzone and Westlife supergroup Boyzlife, and Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra. The three-day gastronomic extravaganza, features live cooking demonstrations from an extensive menu of top chefs. Featuring MasterChef and Bake-Off champions, Great British Menu winners, judges and TV guest chefs, and highly-rated regional chefs. Younger guests can enjoy the Kids Cookery School sessions, where they can prepare delicious food to eat or take home. The brand-new Foodies Treasure Hunt Trail will keep the little ones busy, following clues and uncovering hidden secrets across the entire festival. Afterwards, they can visit the fairground and games area in the Kids Zone. Saturday 30th May – Craft Market

Monthly market bringing together a whole variety of local vendors selling items including personalised gifts, jewellery, male grooming care, doggy accessories, pocket money items for children, plus delicious, sweet treats and much more. At The Galleria, Comet Way, Hatfield, AL10 0XR. The market will be located in the main atrium of the mall. Last Saturday of the month from 10am – 4pm.


Friday 5th June – Jazz at The Barn: Mark Herdman Trio

The Mark Herdman Trio deliver hard swinging original music as well as new takes on old standards. Having been long time friends since meeting at Middlesex University, the trio honed their craft making music with one and other. In 2021 the band released their debut album ‘Hold My Beer’ featuring compositions by band leader Mark Herdman as well as contributions from rising star Tom Remon. Friday 19th – Sunday 21st June – WGC Swing Festival

The  WGC Swing Festival, is a two day and three evening event filled with live music, dance classes and social dancing/concerts all weekend. Saturday 20th June – Hatfield Community Day

Hatfield Town Council is hosting another fun-filled Community Day in White Lion Square on Saturday 20th June from 11am – 4pm. Filled with music, crafts, dancing, performances, children’s activities and more, they will once again be showcasing an array of talent, local services and good causes.


Saturday 20th June – Brookmans Park PTA Village Day 

Brookmans Park PTA Village Day is fun filled afternoon for all the family, including, games for the children, a licensed bar, entertainment for the afternoon, food court and tea room, auction and raffle, plus community stalls. Thursday 25th June – Opening Opportunities Job Fair

A free event aimed at supporting local residents into employment, training, and career development. The event is being delivered by Mental Health Matters, a charity providing employment support, and will bring together a range of employers, recruitment agencies, and training providers to engage directly with job seekers in the community. The event will also include free CV support and employability guidance to help attendees make the most of the opportunities available. Thursday 25th June from 10am – 2pm, at The Howard Centre (Central Atrium), Welwyn Garden City.


Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July – Summer Craft Fair

Come and join a fabulous collection of local creative crafters and exhibitors. There will be jewellery, textiles, tasty goodies and more. Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July at The Dutch Marketplace, Great North Road, Hatfield, AL9 6ND.


Saturday 8th August – Dinomania

Step back in time and experience a dino-sized day out packed with pre-historic dinosaur shows, roaming dinosaurs you can meet up close, interactive and educational museums, and hands-on fun for curious explorers of all ages. Funded by the businesses of Welwyn Garden City town centre and organised by the WGC BID team. Saturday 8th August from 10am, at Welwyn Garden City town centre.


Saturday 12th September – Firework Champions

Get ready for an incredible night of colour, music, and sky-filling pyrotechnics as Firework Champions returns to the historic Hatfield Park, Hatfield AL9 5HX. With its grand parkland setting and centuries of heritage, Hatfield provides a stunning backdrop for one of the UK’s most exciting firework competition events. Three of the UK’s leading professional firework companies will each deliver a 10-minute fully choreographed display synced perfectly to music. After all three teams have shown what they can do, the night concludes with a huge, dazzling finale display that lights up the whole park. After the final competitor has performed, you will vote for your favourite display by text, helping to crown the next Firework Champion at Hatfield Park. To book click here


Saturday 10th October -Vegan Market

The Welwyn Garden City event takes over Stonehills Square, right in the centre of the town (between John Lewis and the Howard Centre), on Saturday 10th October from 10.30am – 4pm. The event brings together an incredible selection of vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, ethical jewellers, local artists, environmental charities and more.
