Saturday 11th July – Stanborough Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog or run. The event takes place at Stanborough Park, Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6DF. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at Splashlands Café. Saturdays from 9am. For further information click here


Saturday 11th July – Summer Fete

Enjoy a fun-filled community event with bouncy castles, games, performances, raffles, tombola’s, delicious food, refreshing drinks, sweet treats, local business stalls, handmade gifts, and much more. Bring your picnic blanket, relax on the grass, and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and community spirit with family and friends. Their raffles and tombola’s will feature amazing prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters. All proceeds from the fete go directly towards supporting Countess Anne School through FOCAS and helping fund activities, resources, and experiences for the children. Children under 16 have free entry. Saturday 11th July from 1pm – 4pm, at Countess Anne School, School Lane, Hatfield, AL10 8AX.


Sunday 12th July – Car Boot Sale

Welwyn Garden City car boot sale every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday until the last Sunday in October. At Stanborough Fields (formerly Birchwood sale) on A6129, road between Birchwood and Stanborough, nearest post code, AL8 6DF then follow the signs. Until last Sunday in October.


Sunday 12th July – Junior Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors 4-14 year olds. The event takes place at Birchwood Leisure Centre, Longmead, Birchwood, Hatfield, AL10 0AN. Every Sunday from 9am, every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at the leisure centre café. For further information click here

Thursday 16th July – Chatty Cafe

Friday 17th July – Opening Opportunities Job Fair

The event is free to attend and will feature local employers, live job opportunities, recruitment agencies, training and education providers, CV support, and light refreshments. It is a great opportunity for anyone looking for work, a career change, or training opportunities. At The Howard Centre, Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6HA. Free Admission. Saturday 18th July – Food and Craft Market

Local and national traders selling a wide range of produce, gifts, crafts and much more. Hot and cold food stalls from your favourite regular traders as well as guest food stalls. Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Every first and third Saturday of the month. At Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.


Saturday 18th July – North Mymms Book Swap

Thursday 23rd July – Joyful Dance Fitness

Joy by Jessy dance fitness classes for adults have a focus on having fun and feeling good. They are inclusive, weight neutral and beginner friendly. Come along and move your body joyfully in a low pressure and non-judgmental environment. Plenty of options will be provided throughout so that you can choose what feels right for your body and take things at your own pace. If you love unique, high quality, beautifully made crafts, homewares, baked goods, jewellery, art and loads more then this is for you. The market is spread out over both the upper and lower malls of The Howard Centre, Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6HA. Fourth Saturday every month from 10am – 4pm.

Thursday 6th August – Tea and Quiz for Breast Cancer Awareness

A lovely afternoon of delicious treats, good company and a little fun, all for Breast Cancer Awareness. A special Charity Afternoon Tea on Thursday 6th August from 2.30pm. Guests are invited to join in the fun by wearing pink, adding a cheerful splash of colour to the occasion. Saturday 8th August – Dinomania

Step back in time and experience a dino-sized day out packed with pre-historic dinosaur shows, roaming dinosaurs you can meet up close, interactive and educational museums, and hands-on fun for curious explorers of all ages. Funded by the businesses of Welwyn Garden City town centre and organised by the WGC BID team. Saturday 8th August from 10am, at Welwyn Garden City town centre.


Saturday 15th August – Hatfield Carnival

A vibrant celebration of community, culture, and togetherness. Bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together, the carnival features live entertainment, music, dance, food, family activities, and colourful displays that showcase the diversity and spirit of the community. Saturday 12th September – Firework Champions

Get ready for an incredible night of colour, music, and sky-filling pyrotechnics as Firework Champions returns to the historic Hatfield Park, Hatfield AL9 5HX. With its grand parkland setting and centuries of heritage, Hatfield provides a stunning backdrop for one of the UK’s most exciting firework competition events. Three of the UK’s leading professional firework companies will each deliver a 10-minute fully choreographed display synced perfectly to music. After all three teams have shown what they can do, the night concludes with a huge, dazzling finale display that lights up the whole park. After the final competitor has performed, you will vote for your favourite display by text, helping to crown the next Firework Champion at Hatfield Park. To book click here


Saturday 10th October -Vegan Market

The Welwyn Garden City event takes over Stonehills Square, right in the centre of the town (between John Lewis and the Howard Centre), on Saturday 10th October from 10.30am – 4pm. The event brings together an incredible selection of vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, ethical jewellers, local artists, environmental charities and more.
