Saturday 27th July – Fire Station: Open Day

Royston Fire Station, Baldock Street, Royston, SG8 5BD, are proud to open their doors for this open day. Come along and meet your local fire crew. You will be able to learn about their role within the community, what it takes to be a firefighter and much more. Other activities include; Chip Pan Demonstration, Aerial Ladder Platforms famous teddy bear parachute, Fire Investigation dog Loki, RNLI volunteer team and BBQ and refreshments. Saturday 27th July from 10am – 2pm.


Saturday 27th July – Royston Coffee Morning

Come along to this weekly Royston Coffee Morning meeting Saturdays from 10am – 11.30am, at Royston Parish Church. All welcome.


Saturday 27th July – Storytime

Storytime for under eights on the last Saturday of the month from 2pm – 2.30pm, at Royston Library, Market Hill, Royston, SG8 9JN.


Monday 29th July – Baby Rhyme Time

These fun, half hour sessions of songs and rhymes are perfect for helping your child to learn language skills and are a great opportunity for you to meet other families too. Mondays from 10.30am – 11am. At Buntingford Library, 77 High Street, Buntingford, SG9 9AE.


Monday 29th July – Chatty Cafe

The ‘Chatter and Natter table’ is a wonderful way of encouraging people of all ages to talk to others. The table will be hosted by a friendly volunteer every Monday. Do come along and sit for a chat. Mondays from 12 noon – 1.30pm. At Kooky Nohmad, 42 High Street, Royston, SG8 9AG.


Monday 29th July – Bingo

Come along and play Bingo at Buntingford and District Social Club. Mondays from 7.30pm until at least 19th August.


Tuesday 30th July – Tuesday Chatter

Drop in for a chat; make new friends over tea, biscuits and various activities. Last Tuesday of the month from 2pm – 3.30pm. At Royston Library, Market Hill, Royston, SG8 9JN.


Wednesday 31st July – Royston Outdoor Market

Royston Market Square, Market Hill, Royston, SG8 9JR. Royston Country Market sells home produced cakes, pies, biscuits, savouries, ready meals, marmalade, jams, chutneys, apple juice and eggs. Seasonal vegetables, fruits and plants. Every Wednesday and Saturday from 8am – 12 noon.


Wednesday 31st July – The Chatty Cafe

Chatter and natter is part of the Chatty Cafe Scheme and takes place at a table at The Buntingford Coffee Shop,  61 High St, Buntingford SG9 9AE, every Wednesday from 10am – 11am. Everyone is welcome and there is no commitment or need to sign up, just turn up and take a seat.

Friday 2nd August – LEGO Club

Each week will have a theme but if your child enjoys free play, that’s fine too. Children of 8 years and under must have an adult with them at all times. Fridays from 4pm – 5pm at Buntingford Library, 77 High Street, Buntingford, SG9 9AE.


Sunday 4th August – Craft Fair

Pop along for some unique crafts and gift ideas. First Sunday of the month from 10am – 2pm. At Market Hill Rooms Fish Hill, Royston, SG8 9JL.


Sunday 4th August – Crochet For Kids

Crochet workshop for kids, come and learn the basics to get you started. Taught by crochet teacher Georgina, who is fully DBS checked. All materials provided. Held at the monthly craft fairs at Market Hill Rooms on the first Sunday of every month from 11.30am – 12.30pm. Aged 10-16. Thursday 8th August – Who Wants To Be an Olympian?

Qualify, win team medals and be in your very own Olympic ceremony with Pākiki Theatre’s ‘Who Wants To Be An Olympian?’, the show that celebrates Olympics and Paralympics past, present and future. Ideal for ages 6-12 and their families. Saturday 10th August – LEGO Club for Children

LEGO Club for Children at Royston Library, Market Hill, Royston, SG8 9JN. Second Saturday of each month from 2pm – 3pm. Places are limited, book at the library.


Wednesday 14th August – Royston Rotary Memory Cafe

Royston Rotary Memory Cafe meets every second Wednesday of the month from 10am – 12 noon. Providing support to folks with memory loss and their carers. Enjoy friendship, fun and games at Coombes Community Centre, Burns Road, Royston, SG8 5PT.


Friday 16th August – Coffee and Connect

Royston and District Chamber of Commerce event, network with other local businesses and organisations, introduce yourself to the group. Meeting is free to attend, join for a coffee, cake, and catch-up. Friday 16th August from 10.30am – 11.30am.


Sunday 18th August – Herts and Essex Country Fair

The Herts and Essex Country Fair, Dog and Heavy Horse Show is on Sunday 18th August from 10.30am. A fun day out for all the family. Heavy horse show, dog show, stands and attractions. Payment on the gate, at The Park, Brent Pelham, SG9 0AT. All enquiries to [email protected]


Monday 19th August – Summer Family Fun

Join Coombes Community Centre, Burns Road, Lime Grove, Royston, SG8 5PT as they travel around the world visiting three fantastic crafts from different places, including Asia, Australia and Mexico. Tuesday 3rd September – Drawing Group

Join Royston Museum, 5 Lower King Street, Royston, SG8 5AL, using the museum as inspiration, this drawing group you can learn different techniques and create a range of artwork. £5 per person, with tea, coffee and materials provided. Tuesday 2nd July from 2pm – 4pm. Next 1st October.


Saturday 7th September – Buntingford Classic Car Show

For the enthusiastic classic vehicle owner, this event represents the perfect opportunity to polish up the chrome and enjoy like minded company. For the casual onlooker, the free admission to the event gives a rare opportunity to soak up real nostalgia in the historic setting. One can really imagine some of the real vintage motors hobbling along Buntingford’s original cobble street, surrounded by its old Tudor scene. Classic cars, trucks, tractors and bikes of all ages will adorn the historic High Street with a vibrant and colourful spectacle.

There is plenty going on in town all day. Several barbeques will be on offer, as well as a number of fabulous live musicians entertaining you on every street corner. All of the shops should be open as usual, although access to them by car may be restricted. Saturday 7th September from 11am – 4pm. At Buntingford High Street.


Saturday 14th September – Author Talks: Phillipa Sage

The ticket price includes a copy of her book ‘The Wonderful World of Jeremy Clarkson’, describing her six year personal relationship with Jeremy, travelling the world and attending A-list functions together. Phillipa worked in the motoring industry for over twenty years and became a key member of the production team for Top Gear Live. At Seth Ward Community Centre, Buntingford, SG9 9SG. Thursday 19th September – Music for a late Summer Evening

With talented soloists and chamber choir from Haileybury College, this concert promises to appeal to all tastes and interests perfect for a late summer evening. The Chamber Choir conducted by Haileybury’s new Director of Music, Richard Brain, will be singing works from a wide range of composers and the string quartet will perform their first works of the season.
