Saturday 25th April – South Oxhey Parkrun
A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event, every Saturday from 9am. The event takes place at South Oxhey Playing Fields, Green Lane, WD19 4LT. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at the pop up cafe at the finish line. For further information click here
Saturday 25th April – Bowls Club: Open Days
Join the Metropolitan Bowls Club, Aldenham Road, Bushey, WD23 2TR, in Bushey for free, fun open sessions this spring. No experience needed, just wear flat shoes and come along. Open Day dates are Saturday 25 April from 1pm – 4pm. Tuesday 28th April from 5.45pm – 8pm. Thursday 30th April from 1.45pm – 4pm and Bank Holiday Monday 4th May from 10am – 2pm. Plus Free Coaching every Thursday, 1,45pm – 4pm. Bowls is a great way to stay active, improve mobility, boost wellbeing, and meet new people. Drop in and give it a go.
Saturday 25th April – Spring Concert
An uplifting evening of music as you celebrate the arrival of spring with a vibrant programme of favourites, classics, and seasonal highlights, beautifully performed by the Watford Band and their Development Band, Brass Beats. Refreshments and raffle prizes available. Saturday 25th April from 7.30pm, at St Matthew’s Church, Oxhey, Eastbury Road, WD19 4ST. Adults £10 and Children free. Sunday 26th April – Car Boot Sale
Bushey’s All Year Round Car Boot Sale is on Sundays from 6am – 1pm. At Little Bushey Lane, Bushey, WD25 8JS, (behind Costco). Weather permitting. Fabulous food and refreshments on site.
Sunday 26th April – King George Junior Parkrun

Sunday 26th April – South Oxhey Market
Every Sunday from 9.30am – 3.30pm the South Oxhey Market, is proudly organised by Watford Rural Parish Council. The market is more than just a shopping destination, it is a social hub, a place where neighbours meet, families gather, and friendships grow. Set against the lively backdrop of our parish, it’s where the community comes alive every Sunday. The market brings together an ever-growing selection of local traders offering everything from fresh produce and handcrafted goods to world cuisine and unique finds you will not see on the high street. Supporting the market means supporting local business owners, creative artisans, and hardworking food vendors. This market is not being run for profit. Watford Rural Parish Council is committed to creating a welcoming space for the community to enjoy and for traders to thrive. Any money raised goes directly back into running and improving the market, supporting local initiatives, and building something sustainable for the long term.
Sunday 26th April – The Forties Experience: Open Day
Join The Forties Experience, Lincoln Field, Bushey Hall Drive, Bushey, WD23 2ES, for their public open day on Sunday 26th April from 10.30am – 4pm. You do not need to prebook. It’s their first open day of the year. Come and see their 1940s rooms and play with their collection of 1940s toys and games. Visit a military museum and a Dig for Victory garden. Pop into the Airman’s Club to see a live band “The Mustangs” and pay a visit to South West Herts Model Railway Club to see what they are working on. Experience a guided tour of a bombed out street scene with an air raid warden and take a ride in their WW2 Jeep. Period attire is welcomed, so come along and experience a trip back to the Forties.
Thursday 30th April – Walk and Talk
Hello Baby is hosting a walk and talk for mums with babies up to 12 months. They will be meeting in King George Recreation Ground, Bushey, by the front of the cafe, looking out towards the playground, for a gentle walk. Thursday 30th April – CompassionART Café
Held at Oxhey Library, Bridlington Road, South Oxhey, WD19 7AG, run in partnership with Three Rivers District Council Healthy Hub. This CompassionART Café will take place on the last Thursday of every month from 1.30pm – 3pm. CompassionART Cafés are drop-in sessions that provide a safe space for people to come together and express themselves through art. They are aimed at anyone who has experienced bereavement, and those who might be lonely due to illness. The sessions include a guided arts and crafts activity and provide a safe space to chat and connect with others, share memories and create lasting connections over a cup of tea.

In partnership with HomeStart Watford , join One YMCA on Wednesday 6th May from 4pm – 7pm at Metropolitan Bushey, Aldenham Road, Bushey, WD23 2TR, for an unforgettable evening of courage, connection and community spirit. When you take on that challenge, you are also standing up for local families, young people and vulnerable individuals who rely on One YMCA and Home‑Start Watford and Three Rivers for safety, stability and hope. Saturday 9th May – Oxhey Village Brewfest
Organised in partnership between Oxhey Village Environment Group and Oxhey Village Brewery, Brewfest has become one of the region’s largest community-led beer festivals. The family-friendly festival will offer ale tasting from regional brewers, food from independent caters, and entertainment from local musicians. A full day of food, entertainment and special casks at The Load of Hay, The Railway Arms, The Rifle Volunteer, The Royal Oak, The Victoria and The Villiers Arms.
Wednesday 13th May – Walking Group
A monthly themed walking group, you can join in with the theme as much or as little as you want or just come along for a stroll and a chat. All walks start and finish at Bushey Library, Sparrows Herne, WD23 1FA. No need to book. Ask in the library for more details. Free event but donations welcome. Second Wednesday of the month from 2pm.

Parkinson’s Pals Bushey meets on the second Thursday of the month from 2.30pm – 4pm. Make new friends, share experiences and receive support from others living with or affected by Parkinson’s in a welcoming space. Refreshments will be provided. This Field Of Inflatables is designed for all the family and is the perfect day out for high energy bouncing or relaxing while the kids have a blast on massive inflatables, Slide and play in one of the Game Arena Inflatables or enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere in the Under 6’s area. Monday 18th May – Oxhey Village Violets
A friendly group of like-minded women who meet monthly to share laughter, learn new skills, and try something different. Their evenings alternate between crafts, inspiring talks, and fun physical activities, from dance and keep-fit to Pilates and line dancing. Wednesday 20th May – Singing for the Brain
Home Instead Watford have teamed up with Alzheimer’s Society to provide ‘Singing for the Brain’ sessions which will be hosted at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home, High Street, Bushey, WD23 1QN. This will be a fun session aimed at those living with dementia or other neurological and memory conditions such as Parkinson’s, MND and Stroke. It will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 11am, so come along and bring your voice with you.
Thursday 21st May – Memory Cafe
The Memory Cafe is a calm, welcoming space for people living with dementia, alongside their loved ones and carers. It is a chance to slow down, feel supported and spend time together in a relaxed, friendly environment, with no pressure and no expectations. There is no need to book, simply drop in, stay for as long as you like, and enjoy a warm, supportive afternoon with others who understand. Saturday 13th June – Plant and Planet Fair
At St Martin’s Muirfield Road, South Oxhey, Wd19 6JD, there will be plenty of tea, coffee and cake for you to enjoy in the yarn room, as well as stalls selling reused and repurposed gifts, craft kits and more. There will be plants and horticulture related goods for sale in the large hall. Entry is £1 per person. Saturday 13th June from 10am – 2pm.
Saturday 13th June – Summer Fayre
This year’s Oxhey Village Summer Fayre will be held on Saturday 13th June from 1pm. Join them on the village green for dozens of stalls, food and drink, entertainment, fun and games. The Summer Fayre is one of the key local fixtures, where residents join with family and friends to enjoy a good old fashioned community get-together on the village green.
Tuesday 16th June – Antiques Valuations
An afternoon with Bushey Auctions. Bring along your treasured items for expert valuations from two antique dealers. Jewellery, art, porcelain, glass, watches, collectibles, anything you think may have a value. Let them know you are coming by calling 020 8421 8844. Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th July – Beer and Cider Festival
The 20th anniversary of the Bushey and Oxhey Beer and Cider festival will take place Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th July. With live music, BBQ, and more. At The Three Crowns, High Road, Bushey, WD23 1EA.
Saturday 18th July – Litter Pick
Litter picks and bags provided, more than welcome to bring your own litter picks if you have them, in addition to gloves. Meet up at the Carpenders Park Community Hall, Station Footpath/Gibbs Couch, WD19 5EG from 10am, for a 10.30 start, aiming to be back at the hall for around 12 noon. Participants usually concentrate on their own roads, or known hotspots, it is a relaxed event. Saturday 18th July.
Thursday 3rd September – Older Persons Activity, Learning and Safety
Older persons activity, learning and safety (OPALS) events are sociable, seated events where you can get quality advice and help on a wide range of services available. As well as giving reassuring safety and wellbeing support, the event includes an opportunity to meet other residents in your area, safety related freebies and representatives from a variety of agencies giving advice on the services they offer.
