Saturday 27th – Sunday 28th July – Beer and Cider Festival

Bushey Beer and Cider festival is coming back Friday 26th – Sunday 28th July. This charity festival will have drinks, live music and games with monies going to Lupus UK and MacMillan charities. At The Three Crowns, 1 High Road, Bushey, WD23 1EA.


Saturday 27th July – Saturday Singing Circle

This great group supporting those living with dementia,, meet every Saturday afternoon from 2pm – 4pm. At The Clitheroe Centre, Clitheroe Gardens, South Oxhey, WD19 6RP. With songs and memory games and refreshments.


Sunday 28th July – The Forties Experience: Open Day

Open day at The Forties Experience, 29 Lincoln Field, Bushey Hall Drive, Bushey, WD23 2ES, come and see their 1940s rooms and play with their collection of 1940s toys and games and more. Period attire is welcomed, so come along and experience a trip back to the Forties. Sunday 28th July from 10.30am – 4pm.


Monday 29th July – Over 50’s Badminton

Take it at your own pace, enjoy the social aspect, meet new people and above all, stay healthy and moving. Do not worry if you d0 not have a racket, everything you need will be provided. Session for over 50s at Bushey Grove Leisure Centre, Aldenham Road, Bushey, WD23 2TD, on Mondays from 10am – 11am. For any inquiries, email [email protected]


Tuesday 30th July – Groundwork East

Join Groundwork East to get outside and learn more about Watford’s rich heritage and history, through fun family activities in a local greenspace. Dive into nature by exploring your local park, go back in time and learn about the industries along the river. Meet at Tasty bean cafe near the bridge, Oxhey Activity Park, Eastbury Rd, Watford, WD18 0HZ. Tuesday 30th July from 9.15-10.45am, 11am -12.30pm, and 1pm – 2.30pm. Wednesday 31st July – Open Mic Night

Come, and perform songs, tunes, poetry, acappella, stand up, mime and anything else you can think of. The mic is open on the last Wednesday of the month from 8pm – 10.30pm. At The Horse and Chains, 79 High Street, Bushey, WD23 1BL.


Thursday 1st August – Knit and Natter

Casual meet up of people to do knitting or crochet while having a natter along the way, at Oxhey Library, Bridlington Road, South Oxhey, WD19 7AG. Thursdays from 10am – 11am.


Thursday 1st August – Computers and a Cuppa

Communities 1st Digital Champions will be at Bushey Library, Sparrows Herne, WD23 1FA, on Thursdays from 12 noon – 2pm, with their Computers and a Cuppa session. No need to book, just drop in.


Thursday 1st August – The Historic Oxhey Chapel

As part of a week of activities at Oxhey Chapel, local historian Neil Hamilton will be delivering a talk on the history of the Chapel and the Oxhey Estate. Oxhey Chapel is a redundant Anglican chapel in Oxhey, the chapel was built in 1612 by Sir James Altham as a private chapel for his family and staff who lived nearby at Oxhey Place.  Neil’s talk of it’s history and that of the surrounding areas is not to be missed. Saturday 3rd August – ParkPlay

ParkPlay is a two-hour long play session of fun and games for everyone every Saturday morning from 10am. At Warren Dell Primary School, Gosforth Lane, Watford Rural, WD19 7UZ. Activities are relaxed enough to attract the shy and less confident, but structured enough to reassure.


Saturday 3rd August – Hello Baby Pregnancy Club

Hello Baby Pregnancy Club is open to all pregnant women in the local area. These events are a great opportunity to meet other mums-to-be and hear from guest speakers and experts. Saturday 3rd August – Compassionate Cafe

Compassionate Cafés are a place where people who have experienced a loss, such as a bereavement, can pop in for a cuppa, a cake, and a friendly person to talk to. It provides a safe environment for individuals to come together, have a friendly chat, and connect with others who may share similar experiences. First Saturday each month from 11.30am – 1.30pm, at Red Café, Phoenix Centre, Farrington Avenue, Bushey, WD23 3DG.


Saturday 3rd August – Tiger Jazz

Come along and enjoy a wonderful evening of live music from Tiger Jazz, a.k.a. Dial Up host Alexander Williams. With a range of finger-snapping and toe-tapping melodies from The Rat Pack, The Great American Songbook, Broadway, Hollywood and beyond. At Metropolitan Bushey, Aldenham Road, Bushey, WD23 2TR. Saturday 3rd – Sunday 4th August – Oxhey Summer of Culture

Two summer concerts at the beautiful Oxhey Chapel, Gosforth Lane, South Oxhey, WD19 7AX, rarely open to the public, in which on Saturday the Isolated Cellist plays a selection of works ancient and modern for solo cello, all containing themes of light and flow.  J.S. Bach, Caroline Shaw and Edmund Finnis are amongst the featured composers. On Sunday  violin star David Le Page plays a selection of works ancient and modern. There will be loops, Biber, original music, Bach, Ysaye, Telemann, improvisation, re-imaginings of trad. Guernsey tunes, music by Philip Glass and Corigliano, all woven into a seamless hour. Due to the small size of the venue early booking is recommended. Ticket price includes a glass of bubbly. Tuesday 6th July – This and That

Drop in for tea and biscuits, chat and make new friends. The first Tuesday of each month from 10.30am – 11.30am. At Bushey Library, Sparrows Herne, WD23 1FA.


Wednesday 6th August – Craft Group

Come and join this crafting group, open to all, drop in, bring your current craft project and have a chat over a cuppa. First Wednesday of the month from 1.30pm – 3pm. At Bushey Library, Sparrows Herne, WD23 1FA.


Saturday 10th August – Weekend Coffee Morning

Weekend Coffee Morning at Carpenders Park Care Home, Oxhey Lane, Carpenders Park, WD19 5RJ. They welcome the local community to join them for a delightful coffee morning. They look forward to getting to know their neighbours and local groups over a cup of tea and cake. Next 14th September and 12th October. From 10am – 12 noon.


Wednesday 14th August – Robots

Join Bushey Library, Sparrows Herne, WD23 1FA, for some family fun with Robots on Wednesday 14th August from 10.30am – 12 noon. As capacity is limited family space must be booked in advance at the library. Children must be accompanied by an adult with a maximum of 2 children per adult. Suitable for children 5 -10 years old.


Sunday 25th August – Bushfest

Tribute Music Festival, Bushfest with some of the hottest tribute acts performing, Monty’s Bar and a Real Ale and Cider Bar, and an amazing array of delicious food stalls, craft stalls and things to do, you will be guaranteed a brilliant day out. Thursday 29th August – Creative Fun with Numbers

Come and join Communities 1st for free numeracy fun with your child. Help them to explore numbers through a range of creative and physical activities. Make new friends and play. This event is suitable for primary school aged children. Parents/carers must accompany their children. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided. Saturday 31st August – Summer Fair

Carpenders Park Care Home, Oxhey Lane, Carpenders Park, WD19 5RJ, welcome the local community, friends and family to join them to celebrate summer at their Summer Fair. Saturday 31st August from 1pm – 4pm.  Local stalls, BBQ, Live entertainment, games and much more.


Thursday 12th September – Karate Club

New karate club starting in September at St Peter’s Church, Bushey High Street. They are experienced and fully certified instructors, safeguarding DBS certified, and first aid trained. Together with their Blue Light Card special offer for the heroes in the community


Sunday 13th September – Bushey Grove Leisure Centre: Open Da

Come and join Bushey Grove Leisure Centre, Aldenham Road, Bushey, WD23 2TD, for a day of fun family activities. Badminton, Arts and Crafts, Squash, Table Tennis, Football, Beat the goalie, Tennis, Public swimming, Spa mini treatments, Pickleball and Fitness classes. Join Metropolitan Bushey, Aldenham Road, Bushey, WD23 2TR, for a classic pantomime tale full of fun, laughter, silliness, music, dancing, sing a long’s, fairies, love, curses, spinning wheels and of course oodles of audience interaction.
