Wednesday 18th February – Our Sky and Beyond

Explore the cosmos in the University of Hertfordshire’s mobile planetarium. Our Sky and Beyond is a 40 minute show followed by Q&A. Please be aware that the mobile dome is not wheelchair accessible. The entrance of the mobile dome must be stepped through to get into it as the material joins at the bottom, which may affect the accessibility for some people with mobility issues. However, Bayfordbury Observatory has an on-site planetarium room which is wheelchair accessible and has a step free entrance. Wednesday 18th February from 11.45am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Wednesday 18th February – Open Mic Night

Free to play, friendly and relaxed Open Mic where anyone is welcome. Come along and join in the fun, whether its Singing, playing, poetry or tell jokes. At Speckled Hen, Hatfield Road, St Albans, AL4 0XG. Wednesdays from 8pm – 11pm. Until at least the end of May.


Thursday 19th February – Baby Group

Meet other families and share your parenting journey. Bond and play with your baby in a welcoming environment and pick up helpful tips from Early Years professionals. Thursday 19th February – The Magical Snow Show

A magical world of snow full of mythical creatures. Prepare to be covered in snow, caught in a blizzard and whipped up in a whimsical adventure. A theatrical immersive show like no other. 70 minutes of pure wonderment and engaging performances in a unique stage format. Featuring a fantastical kingdom brought to life through creature puppetry from miniature to gigantic. Alongside truly awe-inspiring stage effects. Thursday 19th February – Ghosts and Ghouls

Ghosts and Ghouls is a popular walk over the winter months in St Albans. As they explore the haunted city, they will visit many places that are noted for some strange events. Stories of the well known phantoms of the town will be related by the guide. Come and discover the hidden, ghostly side of St Albans. Please note that all children must be booked on an adult ticket. Friday 20th February – Physical Fun

Get moving and connect with other families while enjoying games and activities that support your child’s physical growth and development. Friday 20th February – Minecraft

Join St Albans Library, The Maltings, St Albans, AL1 3JQ, on Friday 20th February from 10.30am – 11.30am, for Minecraft themed crafts on this Page One activity. Aimed at 8-11-year-old children, tickets are £4.40 and available to book in person at the library.


Friday 20th February – Lego Club for Children

Come along for fun challenges that build problem solving skills, spatial awareness, and creative thinking. Suitable for children aged 5 to 11 years old (Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult). Children under the age of 5 can not be in the room during LEGO club. Drop in – no need to book! Saturday 21st February – St Albans Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog or run. The event takes place at Verulamium Park, St. Albans. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at venues around the park. Every Saturday from 9am, for further information click here


Saturday 21st February – Dog Themed Storytime

A special dog themed Storytime, reading books about our furry friends to welcome a new Pets As Therapy dog into the library. For more information about the Pets As Therapy Read to Dogs offer, please speak to a member of staff about their upcoming dates. Free to attend, donations welcomed. Saturday 21st February – Mindful Activities

This is an informal space for LGBTQ+ people in Hertfordshire who give their time to others. Mindful activities just for you, time away on your own to relax and unwind for a while. If you look after someone who couldn’t cope without you – you can join these sessions for FREE: you could be a parent, look after an elderly person or any age relative, if you or they identify as LGBTQ+. This can include parents or unpaid carers of LGBTQ+ children, LGBTQ+ partners, LGBTQ+ disabled or LGBTQ+ elderly relatives. This will be a safe space to talk and share with others who have found success or difficulties with solutions we can all benefit from. Saturday 21st February – Jonathan Stroud

Join bestselling local author and number one Netflix creator, Jonathan Stroud to explore magical worlds, discover terrifying beasts and travel on an unmissable adventure. In this fun-filled, interactive event, Jonathan will talk about his different series. Best suited for ages 10-14, but ages 8+ very welcome to attend. If young people attending wish to come along with a parent/carer, all attendees must have a ticket. Saturday 21st February – Swing into Spring

Set in the soaring acoustic of St Albans Cathedral, Sumpter Yard, St Albans, AL1 1BY, this lively and elegant concert celebrates the turn towards spring with warmth, swing, and virtuosity. Saxophonist and composer Tim Boniface leads a remarkable trio of some of the most respected names in British jazz. Together, the quartet brings unity, energy, and deep musical conversation to a programme featuring jazz classics such as It Might As Well Be Spring, Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most, and Joy Spring, alongside fresh arrangements and original music. Sunday 22nd February – Verulamium Junior Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors 4-14 year olds. Every Sunday from 9am, at Verulamium Park by the museum car park, St Albans, AL3 4SW. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee in the Inn on The Park. For further information click here


Sunday 22nd February – Historic St Albans

St Albans, the unheralded jewel of Hertfordshire, a 1000-year-old city at the heart of English history. Tour well known and lesser known sites of the City, hear about revolting peasants, martyrs, heretics, monasteries and monks. Walk around the grounds of the magnificent cathedral, and admire the building that was started by the Normans and embellished by Lord Grimthorpe at the west front. Sunday 22nd February – The Kids’ Table 

The Kids’ Table is a weekly supervised pop-up kids’ corner service for pubs and restaurants. Its team of creative DBS checked playworkers will keep an eye on the nippers enjoying crafts, games and table-top fun; meaning parents can enjoy a long leisurely lunch, and finish a sentence. The fun is free to dining customers of the Harpenden Arms, St Albans Road, Harpenden, AL5 2TR. Just book a table with the pub and ask to use The Kids’ Table. Minimum age 3yrs old. Every Sunday 12 noon – 4pm. Until at least the end of January 2027.


Monday 23rd February – SEND Chat and Play

These Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Chat and Play sessions are a great opportunity to come and meet other families going through a similar journey, in a relaxed environment. Their SEND Champions are on hand to talk to you about the services we offer, signpost to different organisations or to simply act as a listening ear. All are welcome whether your child is diagnosed or you are concerned about a possible need. Monday 23rd February – Memory Lane Café

The Memory Lane Café has been set up to support those living with dementia and their families. Part of wider initiatives helping Harpenden to become a more dementia friendly town, the café offers a welcoming and understanding environment to enjoy tea and cakes in a relaxed, local setting. Refreshments are served alongside a varied programme of activities and entertainment, and the opportunity to get help and advice from external groups such as Citizen Advice. The Harpenden Memory Lane Café is open every Monday from 2pm – 3.30pm (with the exception of Bank Holidays) at The Salvation Army, Leyton Green, Harpenden, AL5 2TG.

Friday 27th February – Art and Thrive

Get creative, be inspired, and let your mind unwind at this Art and Thrive social painting daytime class. Inspired by the original painting by the artist, George H Pownall, experience how it feels to dab and dash paint onto a canvas create your own picture and feel good about it. Using acrylic paint, step by step you will learn simple painting techniques to create this style of painting. Come and have a go and amaze yourself with what you can do. A highly experienced art tutors will guide you through the process of painting your picture, step by step, so that you can relax and just enjoy the experience. Thursday 5th March – Museum Friends

To start a year of collaboration, St Albans Museums would like to invite everyone to these monthly drop in sessions. There will be tea and biscuits, friendly faces and an insight into museum objects. Saturday 21st March – Hertfordshire Chorus: Simply Mozart

Simply Mozart, experience the emotional power of his Requiem and the youthful flair of his Vesperae solennes de confessore with the exhilarating sound of Hertfordshire Chorus. Saturday 21st March – Neverland: The Peter Pan Drone Light Show

Experience the magic of Peter Pan like never before at a spectacular drone light show in St Albans. Monday 30th March – Lunchtime Live: Young Artists – Music for Holy Week

Held on select Mondays, these relaxed half‑hour performances offer a welcome break from the office or the town, a moment to pause and enjoy live music from cathedral musicians, guest artists, and rising young performers. The Cathedral Youth Choir and Choral Scholars of Dunstable Priory give a free lunchtime recital in the Lady Chapel, performing music for Holy Week. Monday 30th March from 12.30pm – 1pm. Sunday 5th April – Vegan Market

This St Albans event takes over St Peter’s Street, right in the centre of the city and where the Charter and Farmer’s Markets operate, on Sunday 5th April from 10.30am – 4pm. The event brings together an incredible selection of vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, ethical jewellers, local artists, environmental charities and more. Next 5th July


Monday 13th April – Lunchtime Live: Young Artists

Held on select Mondays, these relaxed half‑hour performances offer a welcome break from the office or the town, a moment to pause and enjoy live music from cathedral musicians, guest artists, and rising young performers. Students from the Junior Royal Academy of Music give a lunchtime recital in the Lady Chapel. Monday 13th April from 12.30pm – 1pm. At St Albans Cathedral, Sumpter Yard, St Albans, AL1 1BY. Admission to the concert is free and there will be a retiring collection towards the work of the cathedral’s Music Department.

Saturday 25th April – St Albans Freestyle

A brilliant Saturday night freestyle. Gather your friends and hit the floor with DJ Jim Keegan providing the soundtrack to your weekend. £12 on the door (Cash or Card accepted). No ticket needed – just turn up with your Ceroc membership card. You are welcome to bring your own soft drinks and snacks. We also have bottles of soft drinks available to purchase on the door. Sunday 3rd May – Hertfordshire Biodiversity and Regenerative Food Festival

The Hertfordshire Biodiversity and Regenerative Food Festival is on St Peter’s Street in St Albans. A free festival that brings together and celebrates the growers, producers and organisations that contribute to a regenerative local food system and a wilder, more nature-filled region. You will find a collection of regenerative and organic growers, bakers, makers, street food vendors, crafters, charities, community groups, demos and more. Sunday 3rd May from 10.30am – 4pm.

Friday 29th – Sunday 31st May – Foodies Festival

Discover a huge variety of mouth-watering food and drink, see live cooking demos from top chefs and bakers and join in the all-new features for 2026 such as the Hot Wings Challenge, Kitchen Disco and much more. The music stage will host chart-topping bands including Scouting For Girls, Boyzlife (Keith Duffy of Boyzone and Brian McFadden of Westlife) and Symphonic Ibiza. Thursday 16th July – Bat Night

Come along to Highfield Park Visitor Centre, Hill End Lane, St Albans, AL4 0RA, for this very popular Bat Night. Not only will you learn about bats, but you will have a lot of fun in the process. The evening starts with an informative talk from one of their Trustees. This will last for approximately twenty minutes. Some bats fly high in the sky while others fly low over water, some prefer grassland while others stick close to hedges and trees. Thursday 16th July from 9pm – 10.15pm. To book click here


Sunday 4th October – Apple Day

The centre-piece of this event is always a sensational local band and you could just come along and listen to them, whilst indulging in homemade cake with a cup of tea or coffee from the Apple Cafe. An informative apple juicing demonstration will show young and old alike how apple juice is made and there will be apple based games will keep the children amused all afternoon. Highfield Park Trust will have a stand and you can find out more about the park and the work of the Trust.  Entry is free, although if you would like to make a small donation to Highfield Park Trust, they would be very grateful.
