Saturday 27th July – Gadebridge Parkrun

The event takes place at Gadebridge Park, Leighton Buzzard Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3AQ. A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event, every Saturday from 9am. For further information click here


Saturday 27th July – Park Play

ParkPlay is for all abilities to play together and connect in a relaxed, safe and welcoming environment. Park Play is a two-hour long play session of fun and games for everyone. Saturday 27th July – SEN Saturday Club

This SEN Saturday Club will provide fun for children between 6-18 year old with moderate learning disability in a safe environment. The club will offer a wide range of activities such as arts and crafts, books, table tennis, PC’s, game machines, musical instruments, slides, trampoline, 3G Pitch, swings and play structures. Saturday 27th July – Saturday Stories

These interactive story sessions are perfect for pre-school children to enjoy with their parent/carer. Join in with a mix of picture book stories and rhymes. Every Saturday from 11.15am – 11.45am. At Hemel Hempstead Library, The Forum, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1DN.


Sunday 28th July – Jungle Adventure

Get ready to embark on a thrilling journey as Hemel Hempstead BID kick off the summer in Hemel with an unforgettable Jungle Adventure. Join them for an interactive and immersive children’s show featuring the enchanting Magical Story Elves. The Magical Story Elves will guide you through a captivating adventure filled with lively characters, engaging stories, and fun activities that will delight children of all ages. Sunday 28th July from 11am – 3pm, at Hemel Town Centre.


Sunday 28th July – Gadespring Cressbeds: Open Day

Come along and find out about this wonderful micro nature reserve, take a gentle stroll up through this site, look out for kingfishers, herons, water voles and many other animals that call this tranquil site home. Gadespring Cressbeds, Old Fishery Lane, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 2BN, is usually closed to the public, but once a month, their wonderful volunteers open the gates and welcome the public. Pop in any time between 11am – 2pm. There is no charge to visit, though donations are appreciated. Next open day is 25th August, 29th September, 27th October, 24th November and 29th December.


Monday 29th July – Kids Fun Days

Every Monday of the summer holidays The Red Lion, Nash Mills, London Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9TD, are putting on a free entry fun day for the kids, Including: Disco, Party Games and Dances, Karaoke, Bouncy Castle, Candy Floss, Sweet Treats
BBQ (weather permitting) and Face Painting. All ages welcome. Please bring cash for the face painting and sweet treats. Mondays from 1pm – 4pm.


Tuesday 30th July – Pilates

Wednesday 31st July – Chatter and Natter

Chatter and Natter tables are where customers can sit if they are happy to talk to other customers, often a volunteer normally hosts. At Old Town Artichoke, 55 High Street, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3AF, Tuesday – Sunday from 9am – 4pm. Pop along between these times to attend a chatty table session.


Thursday 1st August – Gadespring Cressbeds Bird Hide: Open Day

Pop in and visit the bird hide at Gadespring Cressbeds, Old Fishery Lane, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 2BN, which overlooks one of the most active areas on the site. Thursdays from 10am – 12 noon. Form the bird hide, you can see kingfishers darting across the pond, and into the nesting bank, Moorhens nesting among the reeds, Heron fishing for frogs and fish, and many other little birds that visit the bird feeders. Gadespring Cressbeds is usually closed to the public, but volunteers host visitors at the bird hide for photography and bird watching, as well as the opportunity to meet other like-minded people at these open days. Every Thursday until 19th December.


Thursday 1st August – Punch and Judy

Free Summer workshop at Riverside Shopping Centre, Hemel Hempstead, with Punch and Judy. Come and take a seat and watch a traditional puppet show at intervals across the day. Thursday 1st August from 11am – 4pm. By the Beach and Play Area. Please note, that all children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.


Thursday 1st August – Breastfeeding Celebration Event

To celebrate National Breastfeeding Week, Dacorum Family Centre Service are holding a celebration event in partnership with their health colleagues. All are welcome to attend. Their trained staff, as well as Public Health Nursing, will be attending the event. Thursday 1st August from 1pm – 3pm. At Cedar Tree Family Centre, 4 Datchet Close, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 7JX.


Thursday 1st August – Games Night

Join The Green Man, Leverstock Green Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 8QE, for a night of fun and games Their Board Games Night is the perfect opportunity to gather with friends, old and new, and indulge in some friendly competition.

Get ready to roll the dice, strategize, and outwit your opponents as they provide a wide selection of board games for you to choose from. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just looking for a casual evening of entertainment, there’s something for everyone. Friday 2nd August – Coffee Morning

Join this coffee morning on the first Friday of every month from 11am – 1pm Sometimes they host a quiz, sometimes a coffee morning, always guaranteed to leave feeling happy and full from tea and biscuits or coffee. Friday 2nd August – Junior Night

Fun tennis for 8-15 years. An hour of tennis followed by an hour in the club house, playing games and socialising, at Leverstock Green Tennis Club, Grasmere Close, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 8QZ. Every Friday from 6pm – 8pm.


Sunday 4th August – Climbing Wall

Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping adventure this summer as this incredible climbing wall comes to Hemel Hempstead Town Centre. If you are a thrill-seeker, this event is for you. Come down and take on the challenge of their giant 18ft tall portable climbing wall. Once you are kitted up, push your limits and aim for the top with guidance from skilled instructors. Fun for All Ages: Suitable for both adults and children (recommended age 6+) making it a fantastic family activity. Sunday 4th August from 10am – 4pm.


Sunday 4th August – Hemel Old Town Market

This vibrant and popular market is held on the first Sunday of every month from 11am – 3pm. The market stalls will be located in St Marys Square, Under the Arches next to The Old Town Hall, in St Mary’s Church Hall and on the grassy area surrounding St Marys Church. 

Dacorum Borough Council restrict the traffic on market day so the High Street is closed to traffic between 10am – 4pm. If you are a blue badge holder, please show this to the gate operatives and they will allow you access. Pedestrian access to the market is unrestricted. There are plenty of car parks within a 2 minute walk of the market grounds. The public toilets in the High Street and in St Mary’s Church Hall will be open on the day.


Monday 5th August – Brush Party

Join Brush Party, the UK’s ‘Paint and Sip’ experts, on Monday 5th August from 7pm – 10pm, to paint their theme Highland Fling. You do not need to bring anything apart from yourself, they provide everything, a quality canvas, all the paint you need, brushes and aprons. Wednesday 7th August – Alzheimer’s Society Coffee Morning

Join Alzheimer’s Society for a monthly coffee mornings on the first Wednesday of each month from 10am – 12 noon. Come and chat to the team at The Marlowes Shopping Centre, Hemel Hempstead (located opposite The Entertainer), for a catch-up, or talk about any queries or concerns.


Thursday 8th August – Rock Painting

Bring out your creative side with this free Rock Painting workshop at Riverside Shopping Centre, Hemel Hempstead, Thursday 8th August from 11am – 4pm. Please note, that all children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.


Friday 9th August – Rivers Day on Station Moor

Come and visit Box Moor Trust by the river to learn all about the River Bulbourne. Take part in river dipping, hunt the meadow for insects and learn all about our wonderful watervoles. Bring your wellies to Station Moor, located on Station Road, Hemel Hempstead. No need to book, just turn up, Look for their river stand next to the river. Friday 9th August from 10am – 2pm.


Friday 9th August – Family Fun Day

Join Hemel Hempstead BID for a Family Fun Day in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre. Enjoy a variety of exciting activities, including: Pavement Chalk Art, Arts and Crafts, Bubbles and games. Friday 9th August from 11am – 3pm.


Tuesday 13th August – Chess Night

Come join Fishery Wharf Cafe, Fishery Lock, Fishery Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1NA, for an evening of Chess, bring a board or just bring yourself and join in on a game, All levels of play are welcome. Drop in for Chess or other games from their cafe games cupboard every second Tuesday of the month from 6pm -10pm. The bar will be open for hot drinks and cakes, beers wine etc.


Wednesday 14th August – Space Adventure

Join the Magical Story Elves for a Space-Themed Theatre Experience with interactive storytelling and space-themed activities. Wednesday 14th August from 11am – 3pm, at Hemel Hempstead Town Centre.


Wednesday 14th August – Toy Library

Choose from a range of books, toys, puzzles and games, all suitable for under 5’s. Borrow for two weeks and then exchange for new ones. At Belmont Road Baptist Church, Belmont Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9NU. Wednesday from 10am – 11.30am.


Thursday 15th August – Mini Olympics

Come and take part in this Mini Olympics at Riverside Shopping Centre, Hemel Hempstead, with medals up for grabs these mini 30-minute sessions will take place in intervals across the day. Saturday 17th August – Artisan Market

Join Riverside Hemel Hempsted at this local Artisan market and discover high quality treats, crafts and gifts. Saturday 17th August from 10am – 4pm. Next is 21st September.


Thursday 22nd August – Magical Opportunity

Riverside Shopping Centre, Hemel Hempstead are welcoming a very special guest this Summer, a magical Unicorn. Come and get your photo taken alongside their free beach and play area. Thursday 22nd August from 11am – 4pm (intervals across the day).


Wednesday 28th August – Open Mic Night

Enjoy a variety of different acts or if you have a talent (or just want to try) for singing or playing an instrument then come down and take part. Thursday 29th August – Sand Art

Come and join Riverside Shopping Centre for their last free event of the Summer, come and create your very own Sand Art. Use different coloured sand to make and then take home. By the Beach and Play Area, Thursday 29th August from 11am – 4pm.


Saturday 7th September – Trackplay

Bring your kids along to play with giant train tracks. There will be different time slots to suit all, with limited places at each one to ensure everyone has plenty of space to play. A fun and entertaining time for kids who love trains. With over 500 feet of Track and over 100 Thomas and his friends trains to choose from. Kids will be raving about the experience for a long time. Book a time slot to suit and then on the day sit back and enjoy a hot drink whilst the kids all have fun with train. Calling all LEGO lovers of all ages. National Brick Events are the ultimate destination for anyone who loves the joy of building with bricks. Hemel is being transformed into a traditional Bavarian bash with their authentic Oktoberfest Steins. Step inside the bier tent and prepare to be entertained Bavarian style. This event will feature VIP Tables with waitress service, Live Oompah Bands, Djs, Fancy Dress, Prosecco, Spirits, Wine, and fun frolics and games.
