Tuesday 21st April – Quiz Night

Get ready for a night of brain-teasing fun at Green Man, Leverstock Green Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 8QE. Join them for an evening of trivia, laughter, and friendly competition. Tuesdays from 8pm, until at least end of November.


Thursday 23rd April – Support Drop-In

Hemel milk and chat breastfeeding support drop in on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 10.30am – 12 noon. At Warners End Community Centre, Northridge Way, Warners End, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3QG. Until at least 23rd July.


Saturday 25th April – Gadebridge Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog or run. The event takes place at Gadebridge Park, Leighton Buzzard Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3AQ. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee in HIVE Coffee Shop, High Street, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3AA. Every Saturday from 9am, for further information click here


Sunday 26th April – Bird Walk

Matt Moreton, who is an excellent birder, will be leading a bird walk on this Wildlife Site, to see which birds are about this spring. They expect to see some the warblers which should be back from Africa by late April, as well as the resident birds, and it will be interesting to see if Yellowhammers, Bullfinch and Willow Warblers are nesting again on the reserve this year. At Halsey Field, Gadebridge, Hemel Hempstead, meet by the top bench on Sunday 26th April at 7am. 


Tuesday 28th April – Antiques Evening

Antiques Evening at Leverstock Green Village Hall, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 8QG. On Tuesday 28th April from 7pm start.

Saturday 2nd May – Repair Cafe

Repair cafe where skilled individuals volunteer their tools and materials to help fix cherished items that are no longer functional or are damaged. There are a variety of items that can be fixed for free or at little cost, such as a bicycle’s broken chain, a worn-out teddy bear, a toaster that fails to pop up and more. On the first Saturday of the month from 10am – 1pm. At Grovehill Community Centre, Henry Wells Square, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 6BJ.


Saturday 2nd May – Cafe and Craft

Join in some crafting or just enjoy a cuppa with a chat at St Barnabas Church, Queen Square, Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 4HY. First Saturday of the month from 10am – 12 noon.


Sunday 3rd May – Hemel Old Town Market

This vibrant and popular market is held on the first Sunday of every month from 11am – 3pm. The market stalls will be located in St Marys Square, Under the Arches next to The Old Town Hall, in St Mary’s Church Hall and on the grassy area surrounding St Marys Church. Dacorum Borough Council restrict the traffic on market day so the High Street is closed to traffic between 10am – 4pm. If you are a blue badge holder, please show this to the gate operatives and they will allow you access. Pedestrian access to the market is unrestricted. There are plenty of car parks within a 2 minute walk of the market grounds. The public toilets in the High Street and in St Mary’s Church Hall will be open on the day.


Tuesday 5th May – Tea and Friends

The Liberty Lounge monthly friendship group. Meet new people, share a cuppa, and enjoy good conversation. Every first Tuesday of the month from 2pm – 3.30pm. At Liberty Tea Rooms and Community Hub, Bank Court, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1BS.


Saturday 9th May – Sunnyside Arts Fair

An incredible day of Live music, art makers, craft, bakers, poets and holistic therapists at the friendly, fun Sunnyside Arts Fair. Free entry and a great day out for all the family. Saturday from 10am – 3pm. At Sunnyside Up Cafe and Farm Shop, Two Waters Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9BY.


Saturday 9th May – Songs of Spring

St John’s Church, Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1JY, next concert will be “Songs of Spring” featuring music by Schubert and Mahler. The programme includes, Schubert, Rosamunde Overture, Mahler, Songs of a Wayfarer – Soprano, Alison Langer and Mahler, Symphony No. 4. Saturday 9th May from 7.30pm. To book click here


Monday 11th May – Open Mic Night

Held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each Month, this bi-weekly open mic night for musicians is held in the cosy indoor Snug room of Fishery Wharf, Fishery Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1NA. Doors open for food and drinks at 6pm and they start at 7pm so come early and get your name down and find yourself a good seat or just come and enjoy the musical talents of their local music scene. Tuesday 12th May – Harpenden Complementary Health

Do you want to take more responsibility for your own health and wellbeing? Want to discover the latest trends, insights and new ideas from knowledgeable experts and practitioners? Get involved and come along to these events with Harpenden Complementary Health. They bring together public and practitioners in complementary health and personal development, in inspiring, informative yet fun monthly events. Second Tuesdays of the month from 7.30pm – 9.30pm. Sunday 17th May – DENS Hemel 10k and 5k

Sunday 17th May – SEND Family Fun Day 

An exciting SEND Family Fun Day at Jarman Park Athletics Track, Jarman Park, Hemel Hempstead HP2 4JS, on Sunday 17th May from 11am – 3pm. This free inclusive and celebratory event invites children, adults and their carers/families to come together for a day packed with fun, activity and teamwork. The morning will feature a carousel of engaging sports/athletics activities, giving everyone the chance to try something new in a supportive and welcoming environment. In the afternoon, get ready for some friendly competition with team relay races. T-shirts are provided for all participants. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy, including inflatables available throughout the day, making it a perfect opportunity to relax, play and connect with others. There will be teas and coffees available to purchase on the day but no food outlets so they suggest that you bring a picnic with you. To register click here


Wednesday 20th May – CompassionART Café

For anyone who has experienced bereavement, and those that might be lonely due to illness. There will be a range of art activities on offer and a chance to meet others over a cuppa. This free CompassionART Café will take place on the third Wednesday of the month from 2pm – 3.30pm. No need to book, just drop in. Saturday 23rd – Monday 25th May – Canal and Floating Market Weekend

Boxmoor’s canal weekend is held over the last bank holiday weekend in May. Fishery Wharf Café will play host to a weekend of live music alongside the colourful Herts Roving Canal Traders three-day floating boat market, situated between Fishery Lock and Old Fishery Lane Bridge. Come along to listen to the music, sample the delicious café food and freshly made to order pizza, enjoy a drink from our licensed bar and stroll along the canal, soaking up the colour’ and atmosphere of the three day floating market as you peruse and purchase some beautiful gifts and handmade items. Three days of Blues, Folk and Roots music performed on the canal-side open-air stage at Fishery Wharf Café Canal Lock, This is an ideal event for families and an excellent chance for children to see some first-class music. Monday 25th May – Fun Day

Bank Holiday Monday fun day at The Red Lion, Nash Mills, London Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9TD. With kids disco, kids karaoke, face painting, bouncy castle, craft making and more, Free entry. Monday 25th May from 1pm – 4pm.


Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th May – Sir Charlie Stinky Socks

Fully interactive, inventive, and fast-paced family show that brings Sir Charlie’s tale to life while revealing the story behind it. Celebrating the power of children’s imagination and the importance of play, young audiences are invited to become storytellers themselves, helping a troupe of travelling players build a wild adventure. Together, they turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, transform the stage, and journey into mystical realms. Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th May from 11am – 12 noon and at 2pm – 3pm. Saturday 13th June – Campus Open Day

There is no better way to get an insight into life at West Herts College than at this Open Day. Join West Herts College, Hemel Hempstead Campus, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1HD. This is your chance to tour and explore their campus and facilities, speak to their expert tutors and support staff and discover the course that matches your ambitions. Sunday 14th June – Bubble Rush

Start and end in a sea of bubbles, with 8 bubble stations in between. The course is family friendly, so you can walk, run, dance, jog, or toddle through the foam, and it is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs too. Plus there is no time limit so you can go at your own pace.


Saturday 27th June – Armed Forces Day

A fun, family friendly celebration of Dacorum Armed Forces Day. This free event is an opportunity to show support for our Armed Forces community while enjoying an afternoon of entertainment, activities and great food. Arena displays and performances throughout the day. Birds of Prey demonstrations. Home Guard Foot Drill display, Swing dancing lessons. A selection of craft stalls, local charity organisations, interactive activities and a range of food vendors. Bring your family, meet the community and enjoy a great day out in the heart of Hemel Hempstead. Sunday 5th July – Record Fair

Whether you are a seasoned collector or just starting out, you have the chance to have a good look through thousands of vinyl records, CDs and collectibles from a wealth of dealers all under one roof. From reggae to heavy metal, soul to glam rock there will be something for everyone on sale. Saturday 11th July – Summer Party

Annual Summer Party and Fair, With games, stalls and food, local artists and craftsmen selling their products. At St Mary’s Church, London Road, Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9ST. Saturday 11th July from 2pm – 5pm.


Sunday 25th October – Old Town Spooktacular

This large community event celebrates the Hemel Hempstead Old Town High Street, working in partnership with local businesses, St Mary’s Church, Community Action Dacorum and the Old Town Hall. Expect entertainment throughout the site, a fancy dress competition for all ages and a fantastic fireworks display at 7.30pm.
