Wednesday 1st May – Baby Rhyme Time

Come down to Hemel Hempstead Library, The Forum, HP1 1DN, on Wednesday 1st May from 9.30am – 10.15am for Baby Rhyme Time.


Wednesday 1st May – Alzheimer’s Society Coffee Morning

Join Alzheimer’s Society for a monthly coffee mornings on the first Wednesday of each month from 10am – 12 noon. Come and chat to the team at The Marlowes Shopping Centre, Hemel Hempstead (located opposite The Entertainer), for a catch-up, or talk about any queries or concerns. Until at least 4th June.


Thursday 2nd May – IT Champion

IT Champions offer one-to-one support, problem-solving, and online safety advice for users of the library computers and WiFi. Every Thursday from 11am – 1pm. At Hemel Hempstead Library, The Forum, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1DN.


Thursday 2nd May – Herts Haven Cafe

Open to any young persons in Herts (ages 10 – 18) without the need for a referral. Just pop in. The service helps children and young people to build resilience by working with them to problem solve and develop coping strategies, coming up with solutions that will enable them to improve their own health and wellbeing.

They will also provide advice and guidance to parents/families/carers and professionals to ensure a holistic response to supporting the individual and creating a network around them to empower and enable positive change. Thursday 2nd May – Games Night

Join The Green Man, Leverstock Green Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 8QE, for a night of fun and games Their Board Games Night is the perfect opportunity to gather with friends, old and new, and indulge in some friendly competition.

Get ready to roll the dice, strategize, and outwit your opponents as they provide a wide selection of board games for you to choose from. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just looking for a casual evening of entertainment, there’s something for everyone. Bring your own favourite game or try something new from their extensive collection. Thursdays from 7pm – 10pm. Weekly until at least 19th December.


Friday 3rd May – Coffee Morning

Join Herts and Barnet Oddfellows at Chaulden Community Centre, Long Chaulden, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 2HX, for a free coffee morning, tea or coffee and a biscuit or two, everyone is welcome. Friday 3rd May from 11am.


Friday 3rd May – Hemel Coffee Morning

Join this coffee morning on the first Friday of every month from 11am – 1pm Sometimes they host a quiz, sometimes a coffee morning, always guaranteed to leave feeling happy and full from tea and biscuits or coffee. Friday 3rd May – Junior Night

Fun tennis for 8-15 years. An hour of tennis followed by an hour in the club house, playing games and socialising, at Leverstock Green Tennis Club, Grasmere Close, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 8QZ. Every Friday from 6pm – 8pm.


Friday 3rd May – SUP Yoga

Designed to challenge your strength and balance as you float across the water, these sessions are every Friday from 6.30pm – 7.10pm and 7.15pm – 7.55pm, at Hemel Hempstead Leisure Centre, Park Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1JS. Also every Monday 1pm – 1.40pm and 1.45pm – 2.25pm.


Saturday 4th May – Gadebridge Parkrun

The event takes place at Gadebridge Park, Leighton Buzzard Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3AQ. A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event, every Saturday from 9am. For further information click here


Saturday 4th May – Becoming Dad

Becoming Dad is an inclusive workshop for new and expectant fathers to help them to connect with and understand their babies’ needs. Supported by trained facilitators from the Family Support Service, this workshop offers expectant and new fathers an informal and relaxed space to talk through any thoughts and challenges dad to dad as they transition into parenthood. This is a hands-on session where your baby aged 0 – 1 year can come too. Saturday 4th May – Saturday Stories

Sunday 5th May – Hemel Old Town Market

This vibrant and popular market is held on the first Sunday of every month from 11am – 3pm. The market stalls will be located in St Marys Square, Under the Arches next to The Old Town Hall, in St Mary’s Church Hall and on the grassy area surrounding St Marys Church. 

Dacorum Borough Council restrict the traffic on market day so the High Street is closed to traffic between 10am – 4pm. If you are a blue badge holder, please show this to the gate operatives and they will allow you access. Pedestrian access to the market is unrestricted. There are plenty of car parks within a 2 minute walk of the market grounds. The public toilets in the High Street and in St Mary’s Church Hall will be open on the day.


Sunday 5th May – Chatty Table

The Old Town Artichoke, 55 High Street, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3AF, have joined The Chatty Café Scheme the UK’s leading non-profit organisation tackling loneliness. Face to face meet ups where venues offer Chatter and Natter tables, where customers can get together and chat. Many tables are hosted by Chatty Table Volunteers. Come and support this from Tuesday – Sunday 9am – 4pm.


Wednesday 8th May – Toy Library

Sunday 12th May – Mayor’s Garden Party

Join Dacorum Borough Council on Sunday 12th May from 11am – 3pm at Sunnyside Rural Trust’s Hemel Food Garden, Central Nursery, Two Waters Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9BY, for the Mayor’s Garden Party. Monday 13th May – Learning Disability Football

Inclusive United’s learning disability daytime football sessions are for young adults aged 18 to 25 years, with mild learning disabilities, SEN (special educational needs) or additional needs. Participants will be able to play in a safe, inclusive and fun environment, develop their football skills and build their confidence.

Participants will train for up to one hour and for the last half hour of the session there is time for participants to meet new friends and socialise, play pool, table tennis in the social hub. Monday 13th May – Baby Group

Meet other families with young babies in a supportive, stimulating and friendly environment. During the free 90 minute session there will be time for babies to play, discover more about their development and support your wellbeing as a new parent. Mondays from 1pm – 2.30pm. Tuesday 14th May – Chess Night

Come join Fishery Wharf Cafe, Fishery Lock, Fishery Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1NA, for an evening of Chess, bring a board or just bring yourself and join in on a game, All levels of play are welcome. Drop in for Chess or other games from their cafe games cupboard every second Tuesday of the month from 6pm -10pm. The bar will be open for hot drinks and cakes, beers wine etc.


Saturday 18th May – Artisan Market

Join Riverside Hemel Hempsted at this local Artisan market and discover high quality treats, crafts and gifts. Saturday 20th April from 10am – 4pm. Next is 15th June.


Sunday 19th May – Bubble Rush

The course is family friendly, so you can walk, run, dance, jog, or toddle through the foam, and it is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs too. Plus there is no time limit so you can go at your own pace, come join in a bubble fiesta and enjoy the party atmosphere. At Gadebridge Park, Leighton Buzzard Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1DN.

A 5k fun run (two 2.5km loops so you can stop after one or have double the incredi-bubble fun). 8 colourful bubble stations. Entertainment and Music. Wednesday 22nd May – Open Mic Night

Enjoy a variety of different acts or if you have a talent (or just want to try) for singing or playing an instrument then come down and take part. Saturday 25th – Monday 27th May – Boxmoor’s Canal Weekend 

Fishery Wharf Café will play host to a weekend of live music alongside the colourful Herts Roving Canal Traders three-day floating boat market, situated between Fishery Lock and Old Fishery Lane Bridge. Come along to listen to the music, sample the delicious café food and freshly made to order pizza, enjoy a drink from their licensed bar and stroll along the canal, soaking up the colour’ and atmosphere of the 3 day floating market as you peruse and purchase some beautiful gifts and handmade items.


Friday 31st May – Life Drawing

Regular Life Drawing session at the stunning Boxmoor Trust Centre, London Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 2RE. Life model, friendly vibe, everyone welcome. Please bring along your own materials, especially charcoal, they love charcoal! Board and paper essential, any other materials are completely up to you. Sessions have a really juicy mix of abilities and styles, it’s a great learning environment, sessions are suitable for all abilities and experience. Friday 26th April from 10am. Cost is £15, payment on the day, they are unable to take card payments. Next 28th June, 26th July.

Tuesday 4th June – Introduction to Solid Foods Workshop

It is recommended to introduce solid foods to your baby around 6 months. Join us when your baby is 4-6 months old so you can prepare early, know the signs your baby is ready for food and get information in line with NHS guidelines as you prepare for this exciting next stage. Tuesday 23rd April from 1pm – 2.30pm. At Cedar Tree Family Centre, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 7JX. Next 16th July.


Friday 21st June – Street Food Event

Come and taste some fabulous food and drink form around the world and made by local producers. A mixture of tasty delights are on offer including Caribbean Fusion, Lebanese/Mediterranean, tacos, pizza, sweet crepes, waffles and churros, plus expertly made coffee, award winning gin and a wonderful mobile bar. Wednesday 17th July – Baby Fair

Baby Fair events are for expectant parents or parents of a child under 1 year, bringing together everything you need to give your baby the best start. If you are pregnant, meet other expectant parents and pick up some pre-loved baby clothes. Wednesday 17th July from 1pm – 3pm.
