Saturday 25th April – Stevenage Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog or run. The event takes place at Six Hills Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG2 0BL. The meeting point is the bandstand area to the west of the start point, this is a large open area where the course brief will also take place. Saturdays from 9am, for further information click here


Saturday 25th April – Lego Club

Come along for fun challenges that build problem solving skills, spatial awareness, and creative thinking. Suitable for children aged 5-11 years old. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. At Stevenage Central Library, Southgate, Stevenage, SG1 1HD. Places are limited so please book at the library. Saturdays from 3pm – 4pm.


Sunday 26th April – Stevenage Junior Parkrun

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 2k event for juniors 4-14 year olds. The event takes place at Hampson Park, Webb Rise, Stevenage, SG1 5QU. Sundays from 9am, for further information click here Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee in Hampson Park Coffee Shop in the Community Centre.


Monday 27th April – An Evening with Author Jodi Taylor

An evening with bestselling author Jodi Taylor, as she discusses Out of Time, the latest novel in her popular Time Police series. Discover the inspiration behind the book, hear about her writing process, and enjoy a lively conversation about history, humour, and time‑travel. Monday 27th April from 7pm – 8.30pm. Wednesday 29th April – Older Persons Activity, Learning and Safety

Older persons activity, learning and safety (OPALS) events are sociable, seated events where you can get quality advice and help on a wide range of services available. As well as giving reassuring safety and wellbeing support, the event includes an opportunity to meet other residents in your area, safety related freebies and representatives from a variety of agencies giving advice on the services they offer. Wednesday 29th April from 10am – 2pm, at The Oval Community Centre, Vardon Road, Stevenage, SG1 5RD.


Wednesday 29th April – Reading Group

 Friendly social group for refreshments and good conversation. We can chat about reading, or anything and everything. It’s all about sharing stories and making new friends. All welcome, no booking needed. Wednesdays from 10.15am – 11.30am. Until at least the end of June.


Wednesday 29th April – Baby Fair

Find out what’s on at the Family Centre. Get hands-on expert advice from our team, qualified in Early Years Development. Meet other local parents, enjoy free refreshments, enjoy play activities with your baby and save money and the environment by donating unwanted baby and maternity clothes and choosing preloved items. Wednesday 29th April from 1.30pm – 3.30pm, at Grace Community Church, Hydean Way, Shephall, Stevenage, SG2 9XJ.


Saturday 2nd – Monday 4th May – Inflatable Fun Days

Three full hours of unlimited access to all inflatables, for ages 2–12yrs. Choose your session from 10am – 1pm or 2pm – 5pm. £10 per child, pay on arrival. Bumper cars, trampolines and hook a duck (extra charge). Saturday 2nd – Monday 4th May. At Stevenage Town Rugby Club, North Road, Stevenage, SG1 4BB.


Saturday 2nd – Monday 4th May – Hertfordshire Garden Show

There will be plenty of inspiration for the spring and summer months ahead supplied by the exhibitors attending the show with a wide variety of goods on display and for sale including garden furniture, water features, hot tubs, tools, sculptures and more. Tickets will include access to Knebworth Gardens, Park, Adventure Playground, Fort Knebworth and Dinosaur Trail. Tickets including access to the House can also be purchased. Under 3’s are welcome free of charge. This event is free for Season Ticket Holders to attend. Saturday 2nd – Monday 4th May. Gates will open for visitors to enjoy the Garden Show from 9.30am. Sunday 3rd May – Plant Fair

You can sell, buy, share or swap your surplus plants, seedlings, cuttings, branches, seeds and garden decors. You may donate any unwanted garden items for others. You can take a place free of charge for promoting your charities. Bounce Castles and face paintings and other kids activities are free for Children. Sunday 3rd May from 11am – 4pm, at Event Island, Stevenage, SG1 1BP.


Wednesday 13th May – Meet-up and Chat

Come along to this friendly group meeting and share what is difficult or what is going well. Have a coffee and chat to other parents/carers. At United Reform Church, Cutty’s Lane, Bedwell, SG1 1UL. Thursday 14th May – Job Fair

Step2Skills is holding one of their Inclusive Job Fairs in Stevenage. This Job Fair will be aimed towards adults (aged 18 and above) in Stevenage and surrounding areas with learning and physical disabilities, sensory needs, neurodiversity and mental health conditions. This event is free for Hertfordshire residents to attend. Booking is not essential but is advised as spaces are limited for each slot. Note that there is a low sensory hour between 12 noon – 1pm with limited tickets available and you must book a ticket to be allowed entry during this slot. Monday 8th June – Cybercrime and Fraud Awareness

This free drop-in event features talks from Hertfordshire Police, Hertfordshire County Council Trading Standards and Beacon Victim Care, as well as opportunities to ask questions of cyber and fraud crime prevention experts. Get advice on keeping your devices and accounts safe through passwords and 2-step verification, get better at spotting phishing and social engineering, keep up to date with the latest online, phone, email and text scams, and more. Sunday 30th and Monday 31st August – Classic Motor Show 

Set in the beautiful grounds of Knebworth House with hundreds of classic and collectable vehicles taking part each day, the Knebworth Classic Motor Show is not to be missed. There will be a large number of static displays to see, as well as a show arena hosting stunning parades. Vehicles include saloons, sports, American, commercial, military and classic motorcycles. Their team of judges will be in attendance to select the winners with an award ceremony taking place in the arena around 3pm. Motoring history will be brought to life for all the family to enjoy. There will children’s entertainment and live vintage music, as well as a DJ playing 50s, 60s and 70s hits throughout the day. Knebworth House will put on a range of hot food options, and the cafe will also be open throughout the show. You can also browse the many fantastic shopping stalls, with traders offering a wide range of lovely items. There are also plenty of activities for families including face painting, bouncy castles, radio controlled truck racing and circus skills workshop. Sunday 6th September – Hot Rod and Custom Car Show

Huge Hot Rod and custom car show, with live music and trade stands. At Fairlands Valley Showground, Stevenage. Sunday 6th September from 10am – 4pm.


Friday 11th September – Bat Walk

An exploration of the secretive communities of bats that live and feed in Astonbury Wood, Aston, North Stevenage, SG14 3RY. Following a short introductory talk you will be shown how to use a simple bat detector. You will then explore the different habitats and see how various bat species use them. Through the use of the detectors we will be able to “hear” the bat as they hunt for their insect prey. The walk will take approximately 1.5-2 hours and may cover muddy or uneven ground. Suitable for adults, families and children ages 8 plus. This event is weather dependent and may need to be cancelled at short notice. Friday 11th September from 7pm – 9pm. To book click here

Friday 27th November – Sunday 24th January – Snow White

Stevenage’s favourite comic, Aidan O’ Neill returns this Christmas as Herbie the Huntsman in this truly wicked pantomime adventure, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. From the same team that brought you last year’s smash-hit, Dick Whittington and his Cat, this year’s fairy-tale pantomime promises thrills and spills for all the family.
