Saturday 2nd December – Winter Fair
Lots of stalls including face painting, crafts, books, gift ideas, Santa’s Grotto, games and more. At Ashtree Primary School, Chertsey Rise, Shephall, Stevenage, SG2 9JQ. On Saturday 2nd December from 1pm – 4pm.

Saturday 2nd December – LEGO Club for Children
Suitable for children aged 5 to 12 years old (Under8’s must be accompanied by an adult). Places are limited so please book at the library. Stevenage Central Library, Southgate, Stevenage, SG1 1HD. Every Saturday from 3pm – 4pm.

Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd December – St Ippolyts Church Nativity Crib Festival
The Nativity Crib Festival is a truly magical start to Christmas. Join St Ippolyts Church, Ashbrook Lane, St Ippolyts, Hitchin, SG4 7SJ. They will fill their beautiful, medieval, church with Nativity Crib sets and then sprinkle some fairy dust to create a stunning display. After wandering around and taking in the fantastic display some refreshments will be in order and they have their mini café serving hot drinks and fabulous, homemade cakes. You could also dress up as a “living crib” and take a photo for your Christmas cards.

Sunday 3rd December – Family Fun and Sports Day
Family fun and sports day with Volleyball, basketball, tug of war and more on Sunday 3rd December from 8am – 5pm. At Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre, Lytton Way, Stevenage, SG1 1LZ.

Sunday 3rd December – Christmas Fair
Christmas fair with local stalls, raffle and more, on Sunday 3rd December from 10.30am – 2pm. At Stevenage Town Rugby Club, 22 North Road, Stevenage, SG1 4BB.

Sunday 3rd December – Creative Christmas Fair
The Stotfold creative fair will be back on Sunday 3rd December from 11am – 4pm. At Fairfield Park Community Hall, Kipling Crescent, Fairfield Park, Stotfold, Hitchin, SG5 4GY.

Sunday 3rd December – Make a Wish Charity Christmas Craft Fayre
Lots of stalls selling beautifully crafted gifts for Christmas, as well as a visit from Santa. Food and drinks available including mulled wine, plus a mince pie or two. Raising money to help the Make A Wish Foundation grant a critically ill child a wish come true. Sunday 3rd December from 12 noon – 4pm, at Ickleford Village Hall, 82 Arlesey Road, Hitchin, SG5 3TG.

Monday 4th December – Tea and Chat
Come and join this friendly group for good conversation and lots of laughs over a cuppa. They have a monthly speaker or activity, and chat and socialise on the weeks in between. Tuesday 5th December – Tête-à-tête
Hitchin Library, Paynes Park, Hitchin, SG5 1EW, Christmas Crafts Tête-à-tête session is on Tuesday 5th December from 10.30am – 12 noon. They will be making a variety of crafty creations including paper baubles and tree toppers. This session is free to join and includes a warm drink and some biscuits.

Tuesday 5th December – Storytime
These interactive story sessions are perfect for pre-school children to enjoy with their parent/carer. Join in with a mix of picture book stories and rhymes. Every Tuesday from 2pm – 2.30pm. At Hitchin Library, Paynes Park, Hitchin, SG5 1EW.

Wednesday 6th December – Reading Friends

Thursday 7th December – Light a Candle Memorial Service

Thursday 7th December – A Christmas Carol: A One-Man Show
This Christmas classic comes straight from the original text that Charles Dickens used for his own reading tours from 1853. Saturday 9th December – Christmas Gala and Craft Fair
To celebrate 50 years of trading for Stevenage Indoor Market, they will be holding a Christmas Gala on Saturday 9 December from 10am – 4pm, alongside a special Christmas Craft Fair. Come along and support these amazing traders and shop local. It’s the perfect time to pick up those Christmas Gifts.

Saturday 9th December – A Christmas Carol
A dramatized reading of Charles Dickins’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ performed by actors of The Living Theatre, in the atmospheric medieval setting of St Mary’s Church, Hitchin. Interval Bar on the night. Sunday 10th December – Christmas Fair
Join Garden House Hospice Care for a family-friendly afternoon full of Christmas spirit, with more than 30 craft stalls selling all kinds of beautiful, handmade gifts. Santa will also be paying a visit for the kids and there will be a bar for refreshments and café open for snacks. At Hitchin Town Hall, Brand Street, Hitchin, SG5 1HX. Sunday 10th December from 12 noon – 4pm. Entry is free but donations to Garden House Hospice Care are warmly welcome on arrival and in donation buckets throughout the day.

Thursday 14th December – Seniors’ Social Club
Come along to the Seniors’ Social Club at the Bedwell Community Centre, Bedwell Crescent, Stevenage SG1 1NA on Thursday 14th December from 10.30am – 1.30pm. They will have a variety of games, including Chess, Dominoes and Cards, but please do feel free to bring your own activities or crafts. Bring puzzles or crochet or come for a knit and natter.

Saturday 16th December – Gardening Club

Saturday 16th December – Festival of Dance
Hitchin Chamber Orchestra’s Christmas concert this year sees a return to a more ‘traditional’ concert programme. Come along to their Festival of Dance to hear dances from around the world and across the years, including three of Brahms’ Hungarian Dances, Bartok’s Romanian Folk dances and, of course, some melodies from Tchaikovsky’s well-loved festive favourite, The Nutcracker. Tuesday 19th December – Becoming Dad
Becoming Dad is a new inclusive workshop for new and expectant fathers to help them to connect with and understand their babies’ needs.
