Sunday 28th July – Storytime

Join Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ, in the Children’s library for Story Time from 2pm, all welcome, best suited to children under 7 years of age. This is a free event.


Monday 29th July – Hummingbird Cancer Support

Hummingbird Cancer Support meet at South Mill Arts Centre, 1-3 South Road, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 3JG, every Monday from 10.30am – 1.30pm. Not on Bank Holidays or 23rd December.


Tuesday 30th July – Terrific Tuesdays

A free craft and activity drop-in (to be accompanied by parents) with lunch. At Bishop’s Stortford Methodist Church, 34B South Street, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 3AZ, Tuesday 30th July from 10am – 1.30pm. Next 13th August.


Tuesday 30th July – Baby Rhyme Time

These fun, half hour sessions of songs and rhymes are perfect for helping your child to learn language skills and are an opportunity for you to meet other families too. Baby Rhyme Time is free though donations are welcomed. No booking required. Tuesdays from 10.15am – 10.45am and 11.15am – 11.45am. Tuesday 30th July – Summer Family Stay and Play

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join your children for a Forest School session. Come and join a fun morning in the woods. You will have the chance to bring along some sausages and marshmallows to cook on the campfire. Bring buns too, they will provide sauce and the cooking equipment. Tea and coffee will be provided for parents. Children will have the opportunity to engage in child led play including mud kitchen, rope swings, slack-lines, hammocks and more. Suitable for primary school aged children and under. Pre-schoolers and siblings welcome too. Tuesday 30th July from 11.30am – 1.30pm. Tuesday 30th July – Board Games Club

At this Board Games Club, you can have fun playing games like Snakes and Ladders, Dominoes or Snap. Or even, write rules, forfeits and rewards to create your own board game. It runs every Tuesday from 4pm – 5pm so drop in at any point during the hour. It is for anyone aged 6+ and is free to attend. Tuesday 30th July – Crafts, Games and Bible Stories

Join Bishop’s Stortford Methodist Church for Crafts, games and Bible stories on Tuesdays from 6.30pm – 8pm. For more information you can email [email protected]


Wednesday 31st July – Crafty Chat

Bring your knitting needles, crochet hooks or whatever craft takes your fancy and enjoy a peaceful evening in the beautiful Holy Trinity church, Takeley in the company of friends. Wednesdays until at least 30th October. At Holy Trinity Church, Takely, Wednesdays from 7.30pm – 9.30pm.


Thursday 1st August – Story Time

Bring the kids along on Thursdays from 2pm for story time, all are welcome. This event is free and suitable for children under 7 years of age. At Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ.


Friday 2nd August – Friday Storytime

Join in with stories and rhymes, ideal for children aged 2-5. There is no need to book, just turn up. This event is free, but donations are welcome. First Friday of the month from 10.30am – 11am. At Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ.


Friday 2nd August – Robotics and Coding Club

These weekly group sessions are designed for two age groups: 5-7 and 8-12+. For an hour each week, the kids collaborative in a safe space, engage their minds in the inspiring world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Saturday 3rd August – ParkPlay

ParkPlay is a two-hour long play session of fun and games for everyone every Saturday morning from 10am. At Snowley Park, Parsonage Lane, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 5AA. Activities are relaxed enough to attract the shy and less confident, but structured enough to reassure.


Saturday 3rd August – IT Champions

Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ, now have two IT Champions. Their times are: Tuesdays 10am – 11am and Saturdays 1.30pm – 2.30pm. If you or someone you know needs any help with IT: tablets, computers, new programs etc, it is the perfect time to come to the library.


Wednesday 7th August – Coffee Morning

Drop in for tea and biscuits, have a chat and make new friends. Various activities and themed sessions. Mature members of the local community or anyone who would like to join a friendly group. Thursday 8th August – Who Wants To Be an Olympian?

Qualify, win team medals and be in your very own Olympic ceremony with Pākiki Theatre’s ‘Who Wants To Be An Olympian?’, the show that celebrates Olympics and Paralympics past, present and future. Ideal for ages 6-12 and their families. Thursday 8th – Sunday 11th August – Once Upon A Time

From the company who brought you South Mill Arts’ previous Pantomimes ‘Cinderella’ (2023) and ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’ (2022) presents…Once Upon A Time! Featuring some of the most beloved fairy tales of all time; including Aladdin, Snow White, Red Riding Hood and many more. Suitable for 4+. Friday 9th – Saturday 10th August – Stort Pride

Join this annual Pride celebration as they create space for you to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. Friday 9th August from 8pm – 9.30 is kicking off with the amazing Don One, Drag King sensation from Birmingham. Ending on a High note with Queeroke from 9.30 to late. Saturday 10th August is a family fun day with a spectacular start at Sworders Field Band Stand at 9.30 am. where they will congregate and create a space to hold each other in solidarity and unity, with dance/music, speeches from prominent LGBTQIA+ people in our community, and the Stort Pride organisers themselves.

Get sparkled up and join them on a solidarity walk from Sworders field and up South Street. Celebrating authenticity love, and unity at its finest. Saturday 10th August – Outdoor Cinema Experience: Bridesmaids

Join, Down Hall Hotel and Spa, Matching Road, Hatfield Heath, Bishop’s Stortford, CM22 7AS, for a fantastic outdoor cinema experience where they will be showing Bridesmaids. Taking place within the hotel’s stunning 110-acre garden on the picturesque lawn with live music at 8pm and screening from 8.30pm. Saturday 17th August – Late Summer Stroll at Thorley

Join this summer walk to enjoy the late summer flowers, dragonflies and damselflies. Hear about and possibly see the resident water voles. Thorley Wash, Spellbrook, North Bishop’s Stortford, CM22 7SE. Please be aware there is a deep step up to the bridge that leads across the Stort onto the reserve, which may not be suitable for people with limited mobility. Saturday 24th – Monday 26th August – Cammas Fest

Join Cammas Hall Farm for a fantastic day-out at their Cammas Fest event, taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Get ready to enjoy some great live music, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and heaps of fun. Each day, talented musicians will get you dancing, rocking out, or simply relaxing. The fabulous Youth Create will be keeping the little ones entertained, with sessions throughout the day including Princess vs Hero Show, a Dance Party and Family Gameshow. Let the kids loose to burn off some energy in our large play area.

The Cammas Pub will be fully stocked with a wide variety of beverages including tapped beer, local cask ales, cider, wine, cocktails, Pimm’s and a selection of soft drinks.
