Monday 14th October – Breakfast Club

Throughout the colder months, Big Local are once again offering free breakfasts Monday – Friday from 7.45am – 8.30am for anyone in the local community. Due to building works currently taking place, Breakfast Club will now be held in the Studio room at Wormley Community Centre, Fairfield Drive, Wormley, Broxbourne, EN10 6DX. Whether the kids need feeding on their way to school, you want to grab a quick bite before you start work, or you simply like to start your day with a nice chat, in a warm space with a full belly.


Monday 14th October – Baby Rhyme Time

Baby Rhyme Time at Cheshunt Library, Turners Hill, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, EN8 8LB, is half an hour of songs and rhymes for you to enjoy with your little one. Every Monday from 10am -10.30am and 11am -11.30am. Booking at the library is essential as spaces are limited.


Monday 14th October – Roller Start

Roller Start sessions are back every Monday from 4pm – 5pm. Learn to skate at these relaxed and informal classes ideal for children aged 3-8 years. Only £4 per session, skates, knee pads and wrist guards provided or you are welcome to bring your own. At Wormley Community Centre, Fairfield Drive, Wormley, Broxbourne, EN10 6DX.


Tuesday 15th October – Coffee Morning

Join Cheshunt Library, Turners Hill, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, EN8 8LB, for tea, biscuits, and delightful conversation. Every Tuesday from 11am – 1pm, they offer a delicious assortment of biscuits and your choice of tea or coffee.


Tuesday 15th October – Preparing for Parenthood: Antenatal Course

This course is delivered by the Family Support Service, and is open to Hertfordshire residents living in East Hertfordshire, Broxbourne or Welwyn and Hatfield area. The session will cover all aspects of infant feeding. Practical aspects of caring for a baby. What to expect during baby’s first hour and more. Tuesday 10th September from 4pm – 6pm. Wednesday 16th October – Hoddesdon Market

Hoddesdon Market is under the Clocktower every Wednesday and Friday from 9am – 3.30pm, serving up all your favourite Sourdough Cheese Toasties, Freshly roasted Barista Coffee, Homemade Cookies and Brownies. Come along and buy some lovely freshly made food using locally sourced / made ingredients, helping to support a small business that supports other small local businesses.


Wednesday 16th October – Ready Steady Mums

Friendly buggy walking group every Wednesday from 10.30am. Meet by the cafe in Cedars Park, for a steady walk around the park.


Thursday 17th October – Broxbourne Community Event

Come along and meet with local community groups and charities to find out what support and services are available to you. There’s no need to book your place, just drop-in on the day. f you are interested in volunteering, you can find out about volunteering opportunities too. There’s something for everyone, and everyone is welcome. This event is hosted in partnership with Broxbourne Council, Broxbourne Alliance PCN and Carers in Hertfordshire. Thursday 17th October – Sewing Bee

Come and enjoy a few hours spent with people who share your love of anything textiles and craft related, meeting every Thursday from 1pm – 3pm in the Studio at Wormley Community Centre, Fairfield Drive, Wormley, Broxbourne, EN10 6DX. You can bring your own equipment or there are a handful of sewing machines and tools available.


Thursday 17th October – Board Games

Join Cheshunt library, Turners Hill, Cheshunt, EN8 8LB, for some relaxed and friendly board games fun. They have a range of exciting games to choose from. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks, for ages 18+ No need to book, just turn up. Every Thursday from 2pm – 3pm.


Thursday 17th October – The Carpenters Songbook

A Show not to be missed especially for those ‘Hardcore Fans’, you are promised a wonderful trip down memory lane. Every song in the show is a chart hit, brilliantly performed by vocalist Toni Lee with her Full Live band and backing singers. Thursday 17th October from 7.30pm. Saturday 19th October – ParkPlay

ParkPlay is a national project that runs every Saturday from 10am – 12 noon. and is completely free to attend. They aim to encourage families to participate together across generations and get involved in game activities. All their games are inclusive and can be played across a range of ages in a way that keeps thing safe and most importantly fun for all the family.

Sunday 20th October – Great Amwell Car Boot Sale

Completely flat, picturesque grassy field. Suitable for mobility scooters, wheelchairs and buggies. Fun for the kids with slides, bouncy castles and miniature rides every week. Friday 25th – Sunday 27th October – Dinos After Dark

Join Hertfordshire Zoo for Dinos After Dark, a thrilling night-time adventure happening on October 25th, 26th, 27th, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm, the zoo transforms into a prehistoric world where over 40 life-size animatronic dinosaurs come to life. Visitors can enjoy a variety of entertainment, including cool UV Halloween Drummers, a lively Silent Disco, a magical UV Puppet Show, crazy face paint and so much more! For interactive fun, stop by the glow shop to help navigate round the dino walk, while inflatable dinosaurs and glitter tattoos add to your night. Saturday 26th October – Big Giant Pumpkin Storytime

Join Hoddesdon Library, 98 High Street, Hoddesdon, EN11 8HD, for their big giant pumpkin storytime, perfect for little ghouls and goblins. Get ready for an enchanting afternoon full of spooktacular stories, songs and crafts. There will be spine-tingling pumpkin carving and a fang-tastic fancy dress competition too. Saturday 26th – Sunday 27th October – Lemur Weekend

Visit Hertfordshire Zoo on the weekend of 26th and 27th of October for Lemur Weekend. Join their zookeepers for a fun-filled weekend with lemur-themed merchandise, treats and much more. This weekend will be dedicated to celebrating all their species of Lemurs at the Zoo whilst raising vital funds and awareness for SEED, a charity devoted to restoring the island; Madagascar. Thursday 31st October – Hoddesdon Fire Station: Halloween

Halloween event at Hoddesdon Fire Station, Burford Street, Hoddesdon, EN11 8HQ, on Thursday 31st October from 4pm – 8pm. There will be a spooky maze (child appropriate). Hot food and drink, fire safety advice for the home and fireworks night. A fancy dress competition judged at 6.30pm, and fair ground rides.


Friday 1st November – Build a Spooky LEGO

A frightfully fun Lego Halloween session at Hoddesdon Library, High Street, Hoddesdon, EN11 8HD, where they will create a spooktacular library filled with haunted bookshelves, creepy cobwebs and lots, lots more. Saturday 23rd November – Christmas Fayre

Join The Jolly Fisherman, on Saturday 23rd November from 11am – 3pm for their Christmas Fayre, with a selection of stalls, Christmas crafts, games, Live music and of course mulled wine and hot chocolate.


Saturday 23rd November – Christmas Craft and Pre-loved Toy Fair

The Big Local Christmas is back and again they would like to encourage everyone to shop locally and more sustainably this Christmas. Showcasing small, local craft businesses and affordable pre-loved toy sellers to help local people at this financially difficult time. Sunday 24th November – Hoddesdon Loves Christmas

Hoddesdon Loves Christmas is the biggest event of the borough with an expected foot-flow of 16,000. They will have a multitude of big named performers alongside smaller local acts who are looking to make a name for themselves. With 50+ Stalls spread throughout the town with Christmassy walkabouts, snow globes and a Christmas parade concluding with fireworks to end on a bang. Sunday 24th November from 10am – 6.15pm.
