New Hope: Winter Shelter

New Hope is looking for evening volunteers to provide support for the duration of the Watford Winter Shelter. Running from 14th November 2024 to 13th March 2025. The role involves: Helping set up the room, ready for the service users. Preparing and serving hot drinks and food. Volunteers must be aged 18 years or older; be able to commit to a regular schedule of volunteering, and handle pressure well. For further information click here

Hospital Befriender

Community360 are looking for friendly and approachable volunteers to help patients settle back into life at home when they leave hospitals. Providing a six week face to face befriending service, visiting people in their own home who could be facing social isolation or are without support mechanisms. As a volunteer befriender you will support with things such as signposting or simply having a cup of tea and a chat. You will not be expected to provide medical or personal care. Herts Musical Memories

Herts Musical Memories can only operate with the support of our dedicated and wonderful team of volunteers. They have a number of volunteering opportunities across the organisation. Session volunteers are needed to help with refreshments, meeting and greeting and generally making the group members feel welcome. Fundraising volunteers support their fundraising initiatives in each of the locality’s where there is an HMM group. For example: setting up coffee mornings, quiz nights etc and helping us spread the word about the singing for memory sessions. For further information click here

Volunteering offers people a chance to make a difference, learn new skills, make friends, have fun and work as part of a small friendly team. 9 Lives Furniture, 25 Wharf Lane, Rickmansworth, WD3 1HA need volunteers to assist in the shop, delivering and collecting furniture or other areas. Royal British Legion

The Poppy appeal would not exist without amazing volunteers. You can make a huge difference to the lives of those in need in the Armed Forces community. Pumpkin’s Wildlife Hospital 

At Pumpkin’s Wildlife Hospital some volunteers help out with animal care, and others help out on their education and outreach programmes.  There are many roles you can choose from: such as animal carer, veterinary support, receptionist, administrator, stock controller, general site maintenance, communications officer and many more. Could you be a Volunteer Driver for the North Herts and Stevenage Community Transport service? The Volunteer Driver role is very flexible, and you give the time that you want to give each week. Horticulture Help Volunteers

Green Care at Norton are looking for volunteers who can support with the general maintenance of our gardening sites which enable vulnerable people to be involved in horticulture. They are a social and therapeutic gardening project located across a number of growing sites in Letchworth. Volunteer Befriender

New Hope are looking for compassionate volunteers to spend a few hours each week with residents in their Recovery Service – helping people build confidence, engage with hobbies or new interests, and going on walks and errands. Hertfordshire Mind Network deliver essential mental health support in Hertfordshire, providing a diverse range of services from our eight Wellbeing Centres and other locations across the county. Pets As Therapy Volunteers are dedicated pet owners who give up their spare time to help others. Along with their dog or cat, volunteers visit all types of establishments including residential care homes, hospitals, hospices and both special needs and main stream schools. The Chatty Café Scheme encourages venues to designate a ‘Chatter and Natter table’ where customers can sit if they want to chat to other customers. They are seeking Chatty Table Volunteers to set up and host a Chatter and Natter table. Commit to hosting a Chatter & Natter table at the same venue at the same time each week.
