Tuesday 21st May – Watercolour Workshop

This workshop on Tuesday May 21st May from 10am – 4pm, is at Little Berkhamsted Village Hall, Little Berkhamsted Lane, Little Berkhamsted, Hertford, SG13 8LU, where the amazing Nicky Hunter will paint a vibrant watercolour artwork in stages, and students will create their own artworks using the techniques demonstrated, with full guidance and support from the tutor.

The workshop aims to improve students’ knowledge and painting skills using loose and lively watercolour methods, and managing wet in to wet technique. You will explore elements such as keeping whites fresh and colours transparent, using lively brushwork to create dynamic and radiant floral artworks. Email [email protected] to book.


Tuesday 21st May – Knit and Natter

A social group for catching up and making new friends, so why not pop along and meet some lovely people for a natter and if you want you can knit too. Every Tuesday from 10am, at The Farmers Boy Brickendon, 1 Brickendon Lane, Brickendon, Hertford, SG13 8NU.


Tuesday 21st May – Toddler Group

Hertford Baptist Church have a toddler group for parents and carers with babies aged 0-4, on Tuesdays from 10am -11.30am. There is no need to book, just come along and join them. Runs in term time. If you would like more information, do drop us an email: [email protected]


Tuesday 21st May – IT Champions

IT Champions offer one-to-one support, problem-solving, and online safety advice for users of the library computers and WiFi. At Ware Library, 87 High Street, Ware, SG12 9AD. Every Tuesday from 2pm – 4pm.


Friday 24th May – Ware Country Market

Weekly Country Market with plenty of goods on offer from local bakers, producers and makers all under one roof. Fridays from 9am – 12 noon. At Leaside Church and Community Centre, High Street, Ware, SG12 9BT.


Saturday 25th May –  Elmer Day

Come along to this colourful Elmer Day celebrations with fun craft activities for all the family. Entry is free but donations towards the library service are welcome. At Ware Library, 87 High Street, Ware, SG12 9AD. Saturday 25th May from 2pm – 3.30pm.


Monday 27th May – Games Night

Bring along your friends and family for a fun evening Mondays from 4pm. Free to join. Weekly until at least 24th June. At Blackbirds, 15-17 Parliament Square, Hertford, SG14 1EX.


Wednesday 29th May – Stitch Cafe

Maltings Stitch Café is a fortnightly drop-in group for those seeking to stitch, make new friends and share ideas. Whether your style is embroidery or machine stitching, felting or tapestry, everyone is welcome to this friendly group. You can bring your own projects to work on, whilst socialising in the Café, with a cuppa. This is a drop in session open to all, with no need to book, so just pop by and say hello. Saturday 1st June – Coffee Morning

There is always a delicious selection of home-made cakes and bakes to tempt you, along with fresh coffee, tea and drinks for children. There are usually items for sale and always a very warm welcome. The first Saturday of every month from 10.30am – 12.30pm. At St Andrew’s, St Andrew Street, Hertford, SG14 1HZ.


Saturday 1st June – Broxbourne Community Choir Concert 

This concert has a range of styles of music for all to enjoy. James Bond hits, West Side Story songs, ABBA anthems and Sea Shanties to celebrate 250 years of the NRLI. The choir will be joined by two talented young singers, Emily Chambers and Elise Moody and a host of wonderful musicians. Proceeds from the Raffle will go towards helping young musicians in local schools. Saturday 1st June from 3pm, at Christ Church, Ware, SG12 7BS.


Saturday 8th June – Farmers’ Market

This Farmers Market in Hertford takes place in Market Place on the second Saturday of every month and features produce from the local area. The market is open from 8.30am – 1pm and features produce from local livestock, poultry and dairy farmers, together with fruit and vegetables, honey, preserves and bakery products from the countryside surrounding Hertford.


Sunday 9th June – Mum2mum Market

Come and shop pre loved, good condition all things baby, children and maternity with 20+ stalls to browse. At The Riverside Hall, The Age Concern Centre, Priory Street, WARE, SG12 0DE. On Sunday 9th June from 10am – 12 noon.


Thursday 13th June – Hertford Jazz Jam

Hertford Jazz Jam welcomes jazzers of all abilities on the second Thursday of every month from 7.30pm – 10.30pm, at the Hertford Club, Lombard House, Bull Plain, Hertford, SG14 1DT. Bring your instrument, sticks or voice to join in with the house band, or just come to listen and enjoy the chaos.


Sunday 16th June – Farmers’ Market 

Monthly Farmers Market at Tudor Square, Ware, SG12 9XF, with an array of stalls offering quality food and drink, made locally by small independent producers and businesses. Held on the 3rd Sunday of the month, every market will have a twist or theme. Pop by and pick up something delicious, enjoy food demonstrations and live music. Sunday from 10am – 1pm.


Saturday 22nd June – Becoming Dad

Becoming Dad, an inclusive workshop for new and expectant fathers to help them to connect with and understand their babies’ needs. Supported by trained facilitators from the Family Support Service, this workshop offers expectant and new fathers an informal and relaxed space to talk through any thoughts and challenges dad to dad as they transition into parenthood.
