Tuesday 21st May – Baby Rhyme Time

These fun, half hour sessions of songs and rhymes are perfect for helping your child to learn language skills and are an opportunity for you to meet other families too. Baby Rhyme Time is free though donations are welcomed. No booking required. Tuesdays from 10.15am – 10.45am and 11.15am – 11.45am. At Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ.


Tuesday 21st May – Board Games Club

At this Board Games Club, you can have fun playing games like Snakes and Ladders, Dominoes or Snap. Or even, write rules, forfeits and rewards to create your own board game. It runs every Tuesday from 4pm – 5pm so drop in at any point during the hour. It is for anyone aged 6+ and is free to attend. Tuesday 21st May – Crafts, Games and Bible Stories

Join Bishop’s Stortford Methodist Church for Crafts, games and Bible stories on Tuesdays from 6.30pm – 8pm. For more information you can email [email protected]


Wednesday 22nd May – Crafty Chat

Bring your knitting needles, crochet hooks or whatever craft takes your fancy and enjoy a peaceful evening in the beautiful Holy Trinity church, Takeley in the company of friends. Wednesdays until at least 30th October.


Friday 24th May – Robotics and Coding Club

These weekly group sessions are designed for two age groups: 5-7 and 8-12+. For an hour each week, the kids collaborative in a safe space, engage their minds in the inspiring world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). At Havers Community Centre, 1 Knights Row, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 3GR. Weekly from 4pm – 5pm. Until at least 30th August. To book click here


Saturday 25th May – IT Champions

Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ, now have two IT Champions. Their times are: Tuesdays 10am – 11am and Saturdays 1.30pm – 2.30pm. If you or someone you know needs any help with IT: tablets, computers, new programs etc, it is the perfect time to come to the library.


Thursday 30th May – An Evening With…

Join Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ, as Christopher Hadley, journalist and author, provides the finale for Local History Month by coming to speak on his two highly-acclaimed books. Thursday 30th May from 7pm – 8.30pm. To book click here


Monday 3rd June – Hummingbird Cancer Support

Hummingbird Cancer Support meet at South Mill Arts Centre, 1-3 South Road, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 3JG, every Monday from 10.30am – 1.30pm. Not on Bank Holidays or 23rd December.


Wednesday 5th June – Coffee Morning

Drop in for tea and biscuits, have a chat and make new friends. Various activities and themed sessions. Mature members of the local community or anyone who would like to join a friendly group. Thursday 6th June – D-Day Anniversary

Join us for this important anniversary on Thursday 6th June from 6.30pm – 9.30pm, at Castle Park, Bishop’s Stortford.


Friday 7th June – Friday Storytime

Join in with stories and rhymes, ideal for children aged 2-5. There is no need to book, just turn up. This event is free, but donations are welcome. First Friday of the month from 10.30am – 11am. At Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ.


Saturday 8th June – Northgate Summer Fair

The Northgate Primary PTA Sumner Fayre is on Saturday 8th June from 12 noon – 3pm. Inflatables, Pony rides, DJ, Crazy Golf, Performance Arena, Coconut Shy, Tombola, Raffle, Games, Stalls, Teacher Tug of War, Food and Beverage Stalls and Meet the emergency services. At Cricketfield Lane, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2RL.


Monday 10th June – Craftea

Open to all, drop in, bring your current project or just have a chat over a cuppa. Every second Monday of the month from 10.30am – 12 noon. At Bishop’s Stortford Library, The Causeway, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2EJ.


Saturday 15th June – Carnival Parade and Fun Day

The Carnival Fun Day on Sworders Field, Bishop’s Stortford CM23 2EL, is Saturday 15th June from 12 noon – 5pm. Visit over 100 stalls at the Fun Day including a bar as well as delicious food from around the world. Be sure to visit The Carnival Cruise, a special array of decorated working and pleasure boats, moored along the river between the Register Office, CM23 2DL and Station Road.

The Carnival Parade departs from South Mill Arts, CM23 3JG, from 11.30am, processes through South Street, Potter Street, Market Square, North Street and Northgate End, finishing on Link Road at approximately 12.20pm.


Wednesday 19th June – Book Group Networking

Book groups are the perfect opportunity to take an otherwise solitary pursuit and connect with fellow readers. Come along to this networking event and find out how the library can help book groups, connect with like-minded people or maybe create a new club and borrow books straight away. Saturday 29th June – The Peculiar Market

A specialised market in Hertfordshire bringing you over 20 unusual and fantastical traders. Discover peculiar collections of art, home decor, jewellery and so much more. They have a welcoming atmosphere as well as an inclusive and accessible venue.
They know that shopping and socialising can be thirsty work so we have food vendors on hand to provide refreshments if you want to pull up a chair and have a break. Saturday 29th June from 11.30am – 4pm. At The Belgian Brewer, 11 Links Business Centre, Bishop Stortford.


Saturday 29th June – Hillfest

Hillfest a festival family fun day, with lots of things to do, games, stalls, tombola, raffle, bounce zone, glitter face station, live music, licensed bar, dads BBQ, ice cream van, candy floss, popcorn and lots more. Everyone is welcome, please come along and have some fun. Tickets will be available on school gateway in the coming weeks or contact the school. Saturday 29th June from 1pm – 6pm.


Saturday 13th July – Beating the Boundaries Cycle Ride

Bishop’s Stortford Town Council invite you to take part in the Beating the Boundaries Cycle Ride supported by the BID and Cycle Stortford on Saturday 13th July from 10.30am. The ride departs from The Courtyard, The Old Monastery, Windhill, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2ND.

8am – 9.15am – Complimentary bike checks with Cycle Positive at Market Square. 9.45am – Complimentary bike checks with Cycle Positive at The Courtyard. 10am – Cycle ride briefing. 010.30am – Depart on ride. For further information click here
