Tuesday 21st May – Knit and Natter

Open to all, from absolute beginners to experienced knitters. Bring along all your crafts whilst enjoying a chat and a cuppa. Now 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10am – 12 noon. At Abbots Langley Library, High Street, Abbots Langley, WD5 0AP. Free but donations welcome.


Tuesday 21st May – Meet and Compete Board Games

Abbots Langley Library Meet and Compete board games session takes place in the library every Tuesday from 2pm – 3.30pm. All are welcome and if you received a new board game for Christmas and would like to bring it along to play with others than please do so. Tuesday 21st May – Storytime

Join in with stories and rhymes, ideal for children aged 2-5 years. There is no need to book, just turn up at Abbots Langley Library, High Street, Abbots Langley, WD5 0AP. Tuesdays from 2.15pm – 2.45pm.


Wednesday 22nd May – Coffee Morning

Three Rivers District Council Hillside coffee morning is running every Wednesday from 9.15am -11am. This is an informal coffee morning providing a warm space, hot drinks and company, at Hillside Community Hub, School Mead, Abbots Langley, WD5 0LB.


Wednesday 22nd May – Little Saints Club

Fun group for children 6-11 years old. Fun, crafts, bible stories, games, drama, picnic tea. At All Saints Church Leavesden, All Saints Crescent, Watford, WD25 0LU. Wednesdays from 5pm – 6.15pm, until 10th July.


Thursday 23rd May – Man Made

Men’s mental health and wellbeing support group based in Abbots Langley, serving the Watford, Three Rivers area, and surrounding neighbourhoods. Currently, they meet bi-weekly at the Leavesden Hive, Off College Road, Leavesden, Abbots Langley, WD5 0NX, and it is completely free for all men to attend. Their next meeting is on Thursday 23rd May from 6.45pm – 8pm.


Saturday 25th May – Leavesden Country Parkrun

The event takes place at Leavesden Country Park, College Road, Abbots Langley, WD5 0NX. Every Saturday from 9am. A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. For further information click here


Saturday 25th May – Becoming Dad

Becoming Dad is an inclusive workshop for new and expectant fathers to help them to connect with and understand their babies’ needs. Supported by trained facilitators from the Family Support Service, this workshop offers expectant and new fathers an informal and relaxed space to talk through any thoughts and challenges dad-to-dad as they transition into parenthood. This is a hands-on session where your baby aged 0 – 1 year comes too. Saturday 25th May – LEGO Club for Children

Join Abbots Langley Library, High Street, Abbots Langley, WD5 0AP, for fun sessions Saturdays. Places are limited so please book at the library. Session for children age 5 to 12 (under 8s must be accompanied by an adult) Every Saturday from 11am – 12 noon.


Saturday 25th May – Open Day

Come along to Abbots Langley Bowls Club Open Day, Langley Road, Abbots Langley, WD5 0AB, on Saturday 25th May from 1pm – 4pm. They will be welcoming people to come and have a try, meet some of their friendly members, have a look round their facilities and see what they are all about. You will not need any special equipment, they will have bowls you can use. All they ask is please wear trainers with a flat sole and little or no tread to protect their green.


Saturday 25th May – Watford Brass Band

Watford Brass Band proudly presents ‘Last night of the Proms’ concert on Saturday 25th May from 7.30pm, at St Lawrence Church, High Street, Abbots Langley, WD5 0AS. So bring your flags and whistles and vocal cords to join this fun event. The band will play a selection of wide-ranging music to suit all tastes, along with Jerusalem and Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory. They are featuring their Development band, Brass Beats. Wednesday 29th May – Tiny Mites Music Presents: Cave Girl

With engaging puppets, original songs, lots of interaction and great dance moves to join in with, this production of Cave Girl will be a fun experience for children aged 1-10 and their families. Thursday 30th May –  Happy Circus

The Friends of Leavesden Green have been lucky enough to secure one of the last remaining slots that Happy Circus have available until 2026. They will have an ice cream van available and they will also be providing hot food, hot drinks, cold drinks and a variety of other refreshments. Thursday 30th May – Henderson Hub Cinema Club: Sing 

The Henderson Hub Cinema Club’s half term kids special is the animated movie, Sing. Showing Thursday 30th May from 2.30pm. This is a relaxed screening where we have discounted tickets for under 12s, and under 3s are welcome for free (but you still need to book a ticket for them). Friday 31st May – One World Animals

An event for all ages; meet, hold, and learn about many precious and beautiful exotic animals from around the world. This event promises to be a wild experience for animal enthusiasts of all ages. Saturday 1st June – History Walk

Join the Leavesden Hospital History Association in a guided walk through the north side of Leavesden Country Park. Learn the fascinating history of the original site of the Leavesden Asylum/Hospital that once filled the grounds of the park and played such an important role in health care during its 125 years of operation on this site. Sunday 2nd June – Heritage Trail

Join the Leavesden Hospital History Association in a guided walk through the south side of Leavesden Country Park. Learn about the creation of the Heritage Trail which recognises the Leavesden Aerodrome, Film Studios and Hospital, as well as, the history of the St Pancras School, Canadian Hospital/Kaki University, the Abbots Langley Hospital and the Springfield School and how they all formed part of the history and heritage of the area. Saturday 8th June – Abbots Langley Carnival

The annual Abbots Langley Carnival will be held on Saturday 8th June 2024. Organised by the Watford Lions Club CIO. The Procession with the theme of  ‘Out of this World’, will leave from School Mead WD5 0LA  at 12 noon, arriving at the Manor House Grounds WD5 0DD at approximately 1pm. Then games, fun, entertainments, music, foods, crafts, raffle, and funfair throughout the afternoon.


Monday 10th June – Chess Club

Abbots Langley Library, High Street, Abbots Langley, WD5 0AP, will be holding a Chess Club on the Second Monday of the month from 4pm – 5.30pm. Chess lovers of all ages can gather, play chess, and socialise with like-minded players. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, everyone is welcome to join. No bookings required. They will provide chess sets for your convenience, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

Saturday 22nd June – Kings Langley’s carnival

Come along to Kings Langley’s annual carnival for lots of fun and festivities. There will be live acts, great food, lots of stalls selling local crafts and produce and the fun fair will be joining them again. Come along for a fun filled day out. Saturday 22nd June from 12 noon – 5pm.

Saturday 14th September – Abbots Autumn Fest

The Abbots Autumn Fest is on Saturday 14th September, a local community event with live music, games, entertainment, raffle, produce and craft stalls and more. At School Mead, Abbots Langley, WD5 OLA.
