Wednesday 16th September – Singing for the Brain
Home Instead Watford have teamed up with Alzheimer’s Society to provide ‘Singing for the Brain’ sessions which will be hosted at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home, High Street, Bushey, WD23 1QN. It will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 11am, so come along and bring your voice with you.
Wednesday 16th September – Herts Musical Memories
Herts Musical Memories sessions bring people together through the power of music, memories and singing. Whether you are living with dementia, supporting a loved one, or simply enjoy singing and meeting new people, these friendly sessions are a wonderful opportunity to sing along, share memories and enjoy time together. Come along, grab a cuppa and a snack, and settle in before the singing begins. Wednesdays from 2pm – 3.30pm, at The Metropolitan, Bushey, Aldenham Road. WD23 2TR. Wednesday 16th September – Dreamcatchers
Join Bushey Library, Sparrows Herne, WD23 1FA, for their Dreamcatchers Family Learning workshop on Wednesday 16th September from 4pm. Work together as a family to create your own dream catcher. For ages 5-11. Tickets are £4.40 per child and must be prebooked at the library. Children must be accompanied by a parent/carer.
Wednesday 16th September – Quiz for Cause
Join Metropolitan Bushey, Aldenham Road, Bushey, WD23 2TR, for their first Quiz for Cause, an exciting and interactive evening dedicated to raising funds for the West Hert’s Hospitals Charity, Caring for Generations Appeal. This important cause supports hospitals across Watford, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, and the physiotherapy unit at Jacketts Field, helping provide enhanced patient care beyond what NHS funding alone can offer. For £16 per person, guests will enjoy a delicious meal alongside a lively, fully interactive quiz experience. A fast-paced, app-based speed quiz featuring six engaging rounds: general knowledge, TV & film, music, picture logos, strategy challenges, and interactive pinpoint questions. Max team 6. Saturday 19th September – South Oxhey Parkrun
A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event, every Saturday from 9am. The event takes place at South Oxhey Playing Fields, Green Lane, WD19 4LT. Every week they grab a post parkrun coffee at the pop up cafe at the finish line. For further information click here
Saturday 19th September – Bushey Rose Garden Free Guided Tours
Step back in time and discover the fascinating history of Bushey Rose Garden during Heritage Open Days. Enjoy a free guided tour led by local volunteers and learn how this much-loved garden has evolved from Victorian times to the beautiful community space it is today. Saturday 19th September, tours hourly from 10am – 3pm (pre-booking required). Free event, the tours last approximately 20 minutes. At Bushey Rose Garden, Bushey, WD23 3HH.
Sunday 20th September – Car Boot Sale
Bushey’s All Year Round Car Boot Sale is on Sundays from 6am – 1pm. At Little Bushey Lane, Bushey, WD25 8JS, (behind Costco). Weather permitting. Fabulous food and refreshments on site
Sunday 20th September – King George Junior Parkrun

Sunday 20th September – South Oxhey Market
Every Sunday from 9.30am – 3.30pm the South Oxhey Market, is proudly organised by Watford Rural Parish Council. The market is more than just a shopping destination, it is a social hub, a place where neighbours meet, families gather, and friendships grow. Set against the lively backdrop of our parish, it’s where the community comes alive every Sunday. The market brings together an ever-growing selection of local traders offering everything from fresh produce and handcrafted goods to world cuisine and unique finds you will not see on the high street. Supporting the market means supporting local business owners, creative artisans, and hardworking food vendors. This market is not being run for profit. Watford Rural Parish Council is committed to creating a welcoming space for the community to enjoy and for traders to thrive. Any money raised goes directly back into running and improving the market, supporting local initiatives, and building something sustainable for the long term.
Friday 25th September – Macmillan Coffee Morning
Join Metropolitan Bushey, Aldenham Road, Bushey, WD23 2TR, in Monty’s Bar and Kitchen for Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It is the perfect excuse to catch up family and friends for a coffee, scrumptious cake and sweet treats, and support this fantastic charity. As usual, they will be running a raffle with fantastic prizes and simple games, so bring some cash to play and donate. Friday 25th September from 10am – 12 noon.
Wednesday 30th September – Quiz Night
Join Bushey Library, Sparrows Herne, WD23 1FA, for a fun night of quizzing to celebrate their 90th Birthday on Wednesday 30th September from 7.30pm. Spaces are limited so must be pre-booked in the library. £6 per person with teams of up to 5 people. If you fancy a quiz but ca not make up a team, they also have an all-comers team that individuals can join. Just come and speak to one of the library team to book.
Thursday 1st October – Guided House Tour of Reveley Lodge
A guided house tour of Reveley Lodge. You can enjoy this unique property complete with its furniture and fittings and the stories to go with it. The tour ends with tea and cake. You will be contacted three days before the guided house tour with final details. Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to two weeks before the start date but not thereafter. Reveley Lodge is a large, Grade II listed, Victorian house, Elstree Road, Bushey Heath, WD23 4GL, now run by a charitable trust, Reveley Lodge Trust. The property was bequeathed by its last owner, Mrs Eila Chewett to Bushey Museum which set up the Trust. The house contains pictures and artefacts associated with Eila Chewett’s husband, Albert Chewett who came to Bushey from Canada to study at the famous Bushey Art School. For the early part of its life, Reveley Lodge has acted as a ‘Gentleman’s Cottage’ – a small country house easily reached at the weekend from the owner’s principal home in London. The Lodge has a two and a half acre garden managed by a professional gardener, assisted by a number of volunteers. The garden is open to the public on weekdays. Thursday 1st October from 2pm. Sunday 11th October – Herts Model Kit Show
A fantastic day out packed with incredible scale models, friendly clubs, specialist traders and everything a modeller could wish for. Whether you are into aircraft, cars, military vehicles, ships, sci-fi, figures or railways, there is something for everyone. Thursday 29th October – Spooky Family Magic Show
Join Magic Kurtis for a spooktacular Family Halloween Magic Show filled with spine-tingling tricks, mind-boggling illusions, and Halloween fun for all ages. Watch as the mysterious magician conjures up jaw-dropping feats, disappearing acts, and eerie surprises that will leave you in awe. Kids and parents alike will be enchanted by the blend of comedy, magic, and just the right amount of spooky thrills. Dress up in your favourite costume and join a morning of family-friendly Halloween disco and magical fun. Saturday 14th November – Light and Shade
This programme brings together four luminous works of French and American sacred music. Gabriel Fauré’s youthful Cantique de Jean Racine, with its flowing lines and glowing harmonies, opens a path towards the distinctive tenderness of his later music, while Morten Lauridsen’s radiant Lux Aeterna envelops the listener in richly coloured harmonies and a profound sense of spiritual light. Gounod’s charming Petite Symphonie, written for wind ensemble, provides an elegant instrumental contrast with its graceful melodies, refinement and wit. The concert culminates in Fauré’s beloved Requiem, whose gentle, consoling vision of rest and eternal peace brings the programme to a deeply moving conclusion. Saturday 28th November – Santa the Panto
Santa the Panto is coming to the Labour Club, Henbury Way, South Oxhey, WD19 7AP, on Saturday 28th November from 7pm – 8pm. £9 ticket. Only 80 tickets available. This is a first for them to hire a professional touring Panto. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Not to be missed.
Friday 18th December – Santa
Santa will be coming to visit the Labour Club, Henbury Way, South Oxhey, WD19 7AP, on Friday 18th December from 4pm ~ 8pm. Every child receives a gift. Only £8. Tickets are on sale in June. Only 80 tickets available. Santa has been visiting them for the last two years and this is a very popular event so please book early to avoid disappointment.
