Tuesday 21st May – IT Champion

IT Champions offer one-to-one support, problem-solving, and online safety advice for users of the library computers and WiFi. Weekly on Tuesdays from 10am – 12 noon. At Hatfield Library, White Lion Square, 26-32 Town Centre, Hatfield, AL10 0LD.


Wednesday 22nd May – Knit and Natter

Have a natter while you knit, crochet or work on your own art and craft projects. No booking needed. Free weekly drop in sessions in CreatorSpace.  Every Wednesday from 10.30am – 12.30pm. At Hatfield Library, White Lion Square, 26-32 Town Centre, Hatfield, AL10 0LD.


Wednesday 22nd May – Club Meet

The De Havilland Model Railway Society meets Wednesday evenings at Ludwick Way Methodist Church, Ludwick Way, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3PN. Anyone interested in model railways, or just modelling is welcome to visit and bring some stock to run on their large scenic Havil Junction layout. Wednesdays until at least the end of the year.


Thursday 23rd May – Baby Rhyme Time

Fun, half hour sessions of songs and rhymes are perfect for helping your child to learn language skills and are a great opportunity for you to meet other families too. Baby Rhyme Time is free though donations are welcomed. No booking required. Every Thursday from 10.30am – 11am and 2.30pm – 3pm. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West AL8 6AJ.

Drop in for a chat, make new friends over tea and biscuits, quizzes and various activities going on. All free to join. Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 10am – 12 noon. Next 9th July, 13th August, 24th September, 8th October and 26th November. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West, AL8 6AJ.


Saturday 1st June – Food and Craft Market

Local and national traders selling a wide range of produce, gifts, crafts and much more. Hot and cold food stalls from your favourite regular traders as well as guest food stalls. Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Every first and third Saturday of the month. At Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.


Saturday 1st June – Reading Friends

A social group where you can talk about books, share stories and make new friends. Free to join, no booking needed. Donations welcome. Running on the first Saturday of every month, 2pm – 3pm. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West, AL8 6AJ.


Sunday 2nd June – The Peculiar Market 

A specialised market in Hertfordshire bringing you over 20 unusual and fantastical traders. Discover peculiar collections of art, home decor, jewellery and so much more. They have a welcoming atmosphere as well as an inclusive and accessible venue. Woodhall Community Centre, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 3XD. They know that shopping and socialising can be thirsty work so they have food vendors on hand to provide refreshments if you want to pull up a chair and have a break. Sunday 2nd June from 11.30am – 4pm.


Monday 3rd June – Craftea Morning

Join this craft group every Monday morning from 10am – 12 noon, a chance to meet other crafters and chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome, just bring along your current craft project and join in. This is a great informal group where you can relax, enjoy good conversation and pick up a few hints and tips. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West, AL8 6AJ.

Monday 3rd June – Storytime

Join Welwyn Garden City Library, Campus West AL8 6AJ, for Storytime, every Monday from 2.15pm – 2.45pm, in the children’s area of the Library. They will share a selection of books and rhymes at each session. Perfect for under 5’s, no booking needed. These are free session but donations are welcome. 


Monday 3rd June – Quiz Night

These monthly quiz nights are held on the first Monday of every month from 8pm, at The Red Lion, 88 Great North Road, Hatfield, AL9 5EU. With several rounds of trivia and a picture round, their quiz master will get your brains itching. Teams are a maximum of 6. Booking is not essential but is advised to avoid disappointment.


Thursday 6th June – Community Coffee Morning

Every month The Red Lion, 88 Great North Road, Hatfield, AL9 5EU, host their free community coffee morning. Come alone, bring your friends, bring your kids, everyone is welcome at The Red Lion. Feel free to bring yummy goods to share with friends. Thursday 6th June, from 10am – 11.45pm.


Saturday 8th June – Vegan Market

The Welwyn Garden City Vegan Market is back and taking over Stonehills Square, Welwyn Garden City, on Sunday 8th June from 10.30am – 4pm. As usual, the event will bring together an incredible selection of vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, craft brewers, ethical jewellers, local artists, environmental charities plus loads more.


Tuesday 11th June – SEND Walk in Advice Centre

The advice centre will be located at The Galleria, Comet Way, Hatfield, AL10 0XR, next to the customer service desk at the top of the escalators on the first floor, near to Marks and Spencer and Clarks. This is a free walk-in service. No appointment necessary. Please note: doors close 30 minutes before the advice centre. Tuesday 11th June from 10.30am – 12.30pm.


Thursday 20th June – Summer Soiree

Taking place at the picturesque Mill Green Golf Club, Gypsy Lane, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4TY, on Thursday 20th June from 7pm – 10.30pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a summers evening with your friends, family and colleagues whilst raising money for a local charity supporting young people in Hertfordshire who are facing homelessness. Tickets include a free drink and canapes upon arrival, live music from local groups, free print outs from the photo booth and garden games.

The evenings line-up includes music from the wonderfully talented Katies Jumping Fleas, a ukulele group on a mission to spread fun and joy, alongside other local bands. To book click here


Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd June – WGC Vintage Festival

The WGC Vintage Festival is a two day and three evening, international live music and dance weekend, organised by JiveSwing.Com and sponsored by the businesses of Welwyn Garden City. Saturday 29th – Sunday 30th June – Bric-A-Brac and Kilo Clothing Sale

Join Isabel Hospice on another Bric-A-Brac and Kilo Clothing Sale weekend, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June from 9.30am – 1pm. They will have many rails filled with hundreds of clothes, available at £7 per Kilo. Just rummage, weigh and pay. Free entry with an optional donation. Do not forget their collection of Bric-A-Brac, find vintage home décor, boxes or kids toys whatever it is you can be sure to find something that suits you. It is £1 per item or £12 for 15 items.

All they ask is that you bring your own bag or boxes to carry items in. Events like this help them fund the palliative care given by Isabel Hospice to the eastern Hertfordshire community. At Isabel Hospice (Welcome Centre, 61 Bridge Road East, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 1JR.


Sunday 14th July – TrackPlay

A fun and entertaining time for kids who love trains. With over 500 feet of Track and over 100 Thomas and his friends trains to choose from. Kids will be raving about the experience for a long time . De Havilland Model Railway Society are partnering with Mill Green Museum for a model railway event on Saturday 21st July from 10am – 4pm. At Mill Green Museum and Watermill, Bush Hall Lane, Mill Green, Hatfield, AL9 5PD. Tickets on sale from June.
