Saturday 21st December – Food and Craft Market

Local and national traders selling a wide range of produce, gifts, crafts and much more. Hot and cold food stalls from your favourite regular traders as well as guest food stalls. Saturday from 10am – 4pm. Every first and third Saturday of the month. At Welwyn Garden City Town Centre.

Saturday 21st December – ParkPlay

ParkPlay is a two-hour long play session of fun and games for everyone every Saturday morning from 10am. At King George V Playing Fields, Beehive Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4BP. Activities are relaxed enough to attract the shy and less confident, but structured enough to reassure.

Monday 23rd December – Christmas at Brocket Hall

Brocket Hall is opening its gates to invite you to a truly magical Christmas experience, set within the breath taking surroundings of our stunning country house. From the moment you arrive, you will be welcomed by their elves, ready to guide you through a day of festive fun. Begin with a delicious brunch in their grand ballroom. Afterward, head to the elves’ toy shop, where you will get to craft your very own teddy bear. Next, join Mrs. Claus to decorate homemade gingerbread men with plenty of icing and festive cheer. Afterward, children will get the chance to play a few fun games with the elves, adding even more excitement to the day.

Monday 23rd December – Craftea Morning

Join this craft group every Monday morning from 10am – 12 noon, a chance to meet other crafters and chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome, just bring along your current craft project and join in. This is a great informal group where you can relax, enjoy good conversation and pick up a few hints and tips. Monday 23rd December – Storytime

Join Welwyn Garden City Library, Campus West AL8 6AJ, for Storytime, every Monday from 2.15pm – 2.45pm, in the children’s area of the Library. They will share a selection of books and rhymes at each session. Perfect for under 5’s, no booking needed. These are free session but donations are welcome.

Thursday 2nd January – Baby Rhyme Time

Fun, half hour sessions of songs and rhymes are perfect for helping your child to learn language skills and are a great opportunity for you to meet other families too. Baby Rhyme Time is free though donations are welcomed. No booking required. Every Thursday from 10.30am – 11am and 2.30pm – 3pm. At Welwyn Garden City Central Library, Campus West AL8 6AJ.

Friday 3rd January – IT Champions

Fun weekly drop in sessions at Hyde Cricket club Beehive Lane, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4BP, with lots of music, singing, movement, parachute activities, bubbles, instrument play, action songs, puppets, dancing, stories, lights and more. These are mixed age sessions for 0-5s, although it is recommend that babies are sitting up before attending (smaller babies welcome free with older siblings). If you sign up for the term, the fee is reduced.

Each week will be a different theme so learning covers a huge range of areas, such as Seasons, Jungle, Jobs, Farm, Pets, Transport, Food and Under the Sea to name just a few. Sessions promote early years learning, with activities that involve creating sounds, using rhythmic movement, counting skills and exploring rhythms to name just a few. They also help children to develop core areas such as improving their listening skills and ability to follow instructions, whilst building confidence and developing healthy peer interactions. Sunday 19th January – TrackPlay

A fun and entertaining time for kids who love trains. With over 500 feet of Track and over 100 Thomas and his friends trains to choose from. Kids will be raving about the experience for a long time. Saturday 25th January – Einstein the Penguin

Join popular author and creator of Einstein the Penguin, Iona Rangeley, for an entertaining exploration of all things penguin! Iona will be reading excerpts from her books as well as sharing tales she wrote as a child and giving lots of tips on how to become a writer. This session is suited to children aged 7 and over. Saturday 25th January – Twist and Shout: The 60’s show

An all-star cast from the West End deliver a musical powerhouse of a show that starts with the explosion of Brit Pop in 1962 through to the era of Flower Power and Free Love of the late Sixties. Music lovers are invited to return to a time when skirts got shorter and hair got longer as an incredible cast revive the hits of The Beatles, Herman’s Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Rolling Stones, Cilla Black, Manfred Mann, Dusty Springfield, Lulu, Sandy Shaw and many more. Friday 31st January – Jazz at The Barn

For the first Jazz at the Barn gig of 2025, local musician Matt Ward invites guests to hear Ware-based saxophonist, improviser, and composer Lewis Sallows. Lewis is an in-demand freelance musician, graduate of both the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Previous projects range from the song-based Lewis Sallows Project, to his Crosswire Project – an ambitious, cross-disciplinary project combining jazz and landscape artwork. As an up-and-coming presence within the UK jazz scene, he has hosted weekly jam sessions at 1000 Trades and held a monthly residency at the Loft Lounge during four years living in Birmingham. Saturday 8th February – Vegan Market

Welwyn Garden City event takes over Stonehills Square, right in the centre of the town (between John Lewis and the Howard Centre), throughout the year. The event brings together a huge variety of vegan street food vendors, artisan bakers, craft brewers, ethical jewellers, sustainable chandlers, local artists, zero-waste champions, environmental charities and loads more.
